V8Freak
So I'm almost done my monte build, not sure what to do for gears. My car has a 4spd and ls5 any advice? I will mostly just be cruising around with it but still want good torque but still be able too drive down the highway and not have her roaring too bad
Sam (Bones)
a 3.31 or a 3.42 is a great choice with a 454 cruiser
Its Just Me
I had 3.31's in my SS454 & loved them. Cruised all day effortlessly & smoked the tires on demand. As a matter of fact, I'm in the process of changing the 2.73's in my '72 small block to 3.31's for a little more pep. Scott
502ci
a 3.31 or a 3.42 is a great choice with a 454 cruiser I agree. Not having an overdrive gear in your 4 speed that would be as high as I would go.
James G.
Is it hard to swap gears in the stock 8.5" open rear end? Mine has the stock 2.73 I believe with my 454 setup and 4 speed manual. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!
