yessir Tim! our cars are 'mild' heavyweights, not quite Impala or station wagon heavy.

Back to the truck scale, I wouldn't think they'd have to be calibrated very accurately when you're dealing with tons. Give or take 100 pounds probably is no big deal for truck. I took mine to a recycle yard where 25 pounds might make a big difference. Nate's car is definately stripped next to nothing so I'm not saying it would surprise me, but I'd rather take it to at least one other place to compare readings if the car were mine. my 2cents

mine was weighed a CAT trucker scale.. next time I do it, I'm going to park with my front wheels on one second, and rear tires on another so I can get a measure of front/rear bias too.

Not tryin to put you down at all man.... but 2700 pounds is like escort weight.... maybe escort station wagon.... Im gonna try to do some of the stuff you did to get my weight down!! My friends mostly have fox body mustangs so I need to get the weight down to keep competing with them smile

Yeah, but you know what they say about Mustangs, "They're like @$$ holes, everyone has one and they all stink!" Nobody around town has a Monte like mine and I like it that way. smile The foxbody Mustangs usually don't like seeing my tailights either, lol

Let me think what all I have done to drop weight.......

Back seat gone of course, aluminum radiator, heater/air gone, controls for heat and a/c gone, bunch of extra wiring gone, fiberglass fenders, fiberglass hood, inner fenders gone, hood springs gone, heat and a/c ducts gone, radio gone, stratco buckets replaced with comfy racing seats, ground a bunch off the core support, hood latch gone, extra brackets gone, front sway bar gone, most seat belts gone.... I think thats about it....

On the list to drop weight is, fiberglass bumpers, aluminum rims, aluminum drive shaft, lexan rear window and maybe fiberglass trunk lid...

hey guys, check with your local DOT/DMV.. most states don't allow LEXAN windows.. have to be safety glass to be on the street...

Haha Chico smile My Monte will go a lot faster than the 12.57... I ran that on cheapy all season radials not going over 5k RPMs... smile I havent gotten anyone to race me because of the way it sounds.... Not much of an exhaust....:)

As far as the Lexan goes, Im not real worried about the law for the back window... If I was doing the windshield also I would be a little worried about it... Hopefully I get no probs if I even end up doing it...

yeah,12's not that exciting to a lot.2 me it's fast.Question:after installing fiberglass front end parts, did u notice a significant weight reduction in steering/handling?Did it feel like a lighter car?

I cant really say because it was like 10 years between driving and I went from a small block to a big block and rebuilt the whole front end and I have no front sway bar.... But I dont think it would really feel like a lighter car... but then again from what I remember driving the car before it doesnt feel like a heavy nose car with the big block in it... I recently drove a small block 71 Chevelle and I would say its about the same....

12's are very exciting... When I ran the 12.57 it was my first time in the 12's and I was jumping up and down for about 5 minutes getting all kinds of weird looks from everyone at the track smile Cant wait till I get some traction! smile

Wait till you go 11.9's for the first time, when I had my Olds Cutlass that was a strip only car the first time I broke into the 11's I think I about broke the steering wheel because I was pounding on it so hard for joy! lol I started in the high 14's with it.

One thing I love about my car is its completely streetable will be even more so this year with the addition of the 4L80... I drove the heck out of it last summer drove it back and forth to the track (about 50 miles each way) Runs great and its fast smile This year I am finally putting the upper control arms and lift bars on, bought axles, shocks and springs and Im going to a 3.73 gear. Then I have to get the drag radials smile After that I think Ill be atleast flirting with 11.90's I would think.... If I can drop my 60' times to the 1.6 range and rev the car to about 5800 instead of maybe 5000 it ought to be there... I hope smile

Amen! I loved driving my Monte to work and back this summer as much as I could (25 miles each way). Then up to Gettysburg PA. After I built the engine in 2005, the same week, I took it up to the Goodguys show in Hershey, PA, which was awesome. Then I drove it to Deep Creek Lake and back in Western Maryland (3 hour drive one-way) twice that Spring! A car is no fun if you can drive it!!! smile
