rsorg
hi, has anyone with a new serria or canyon have braking issues, service bullien PIT5812 , my canyon with 300 miles has a grinding sound coming from the brakes ,the dealership said that they are redesigning the brake pads but will take 3.4 months to make, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks roger
jft69z
Given the date of the PI document (May 10, 2021), it's doubtful there's anything more to be learned unfortunately. Some people have said a few hard stops to deglaze the pads will help, but it's a short term fix. https://www.coloradofans.com/threads/pit5812-no-copper-brake-pad-groan-or-noise.421668/ PIT5812A.pdf

jft69z
You're pretty much along for the ride at this point. For grins, I looked up brake pads on NAPA for older years, but it seems to cap at 2020, which could mean they're different brakes altogether, or their listing just doesn't show 2021 yet. At any rate, not worth spending money out of pocket, nor screwing with the warranty by putting aftermarket pads on a new vehicle.
