Hello everybody,

Quick question I'm about to get my rear end rebuilt its a 12 bolt behind a stroker 385 and a built 700r4 I'm going to be driving this car quite a bit and I was wondering if their is a big difference between the gears? Referring to on highway and stop and go road manners. What are the pros and cons of both? What do you guys recommend?

Oh and the 700r4 has a 2500 stall if it means anything. Thanks again for the responses and opinions!!

I would say the 3.55 with the 700. the 3.73 with the 2500 and low

1st in the 700 would not work well together IMO.

I went with 3.42, 1900 and a 700 and I am pretty happy with the

outcome.

I have 3.55's in a 700r4 with 2400 stall. it goes like a bat out of a warm place with just a 300hp small block.

I may have to go to 3.73's tho... I'm looking at the possiblity of replacing my 8.2" 10bolt with an 8.5" and I don't think I can get 3.55's for a 8.5" frown

The 700R4 works well with the 3.73. I have the B&M lock-up control on it. It runs 1800 in overdrive. Very smooth. I haven't had much experience w/other gears. After talking to a lot of members, seems the 3.73 seems to be the most popular. JMO

With a simple TH350, 3:73s, and a 3500 stall, my 71 spins 3600@70. Yeah, 3.55s are looking good, but not as good as 3.31s. Not my daily driver, unless you consider pulling it out of the shop every morning, then pulling it in every night.

Thank you for the replies. With the 700 and the 3.55 gears what kinf of RPM can I expect at 60MPH or 70MPH?

Ok I think I'm goint with the 3.55's. Where can I find a whole package deal carrier and all? For a 12 bolt.Thank you.

1800 rpm at what MPH?

cuz I run 2250 rpm @ 70mph with 27" tall rear tires (255/60-15) with 3.55:1

what's wrong with doing 3600 rpm? my 700r4 has issues right now (no o.d) and I make the 150 mile round trip to leo's and back pulling 3500 rpm the whole way... no issues.. I used to do it everyday

heck.. earlier in the summer I ran down the freeway @ 5800 rpm sustained for several minutes :>
