jminor
My 70 SS had a new gas tank when I bought it. Two gas lines run from the fuel pump to the tank. There are 2 lines, one 3/8" and one 1/2", on the right side of the tank that run up under the trunk and are open ended. When the tank is filled and driven a few miles, gas vents out the larger hose. Where are these lines supposed to go or can they be plugged? If plugged, will the tank vent through the gas cap then?
Shadow Gray SS
If you have a venting gas cap, they should.
wallaby
How about that crazy canister in the backseat area? Maybe they are supposed to go there?
overdrive
A 70 doesn't have that.
jminor
Would anyone know the original way a 70's gas tank was hooked up?
Shadow Gray SS
I believe it was a single line to the mechanical pump and a vented gas cap. Sounds like they put on a '72 tank. You could get a charcoal canister for those two lines or cap them off and if you need one get a vented cap here. Just type in gas cap and it should be the first item.
