disc brake symbol on brake pedal pad

Some 1st Gens have a round metal symbol with 'DISC' printed on it in the middle of the brake pedal pad. Did this only appear on certain years? Have seen several GM 1968-72 "A" bodies with front drum brakes. Did some '70 Montes come with front drum brakes? Thanks, Ed

As far as I know, disk brakes were standard equipment.

If your wife ever says "Come and move this transmission so I can take a bath," You might be a Gearhead.

Great info. However, a brake pad without the circular metal piece (half-dollar size) are on disc brake 1st Gens. So, the question is: What determined the brade pad having the metal insert? I beginning to suspect the metal piece was '70 only. Thanks, Ed

the metal piece was 1970 only , and YES YES YES some 1970 montes came with drum brakes they are few and far between , and i must guess that many that came equipped with drums were later converted to disc , and some 70 montes also came with 2speed powerglide transmissions
