Ian
Not on the Monte, but on the 305 in my sons 84 C10. It has been a long time since I have tried to do one in the car... There is plenty of room to drop the pan, but not sure how to do the rear main seal, it is a 2 piece I think. (looked it up online). Any tricks or special tools needed? I think I can just pull the rear cap off and fish the top half out..
Sam (Bones)
I've done it many time Ian, I usually use a small punch to hit the upper seal with so you can get a hold of it to roll it out of there, just make sure it doesn't hit the crank when tapping on the seal
Ian
That is what I thought, just been a long time since I worked on a older small block
Mo's70MCs
You ever use a Sneaky Pete Tool ( Lisle 27000 Sneaky Pete Tool) works wonders, specially if installing the old fiber style. Though it works with either style.
