wandalee
I've been trying to get my light to work in the rear view mirror- I get power to mirror.... but the light won't light...The bulb is good.... I took the switch housing & bulb out of the mirror-I ran power to pos. side of the bulb housing & grounded the other side- the bulb lights up. There is a hot contact point in the mirror that when you slide the switch it makes contact, have power there..... where does it ground?....Help!!!!! monte70car
The ground is the metal of the windshield frame which the mirror is bolted to. You wont have light unless the switch is turned on, you can fix it where the light will come on when the switch is off by tie it to an ign source. Rob Peters
The ground would more than likely be the contact the mirror bracket makes with the body where it attaches to the body Take a meter and measure the resistanve it shows between the mirror bracket and any place on bare metal to see how much resistance there is. wandalee
The housing that the bulb snaps into has a hot side and a ground side.... Nothing for the ground side to touch.....
monte70car
I grabbed an extra mirror from the garage for pictures. you will pinch the sides of the switch to pop it loose and out of the housing of the mirror. The long copper lead goes to the power lead inside the mirror The ground of the switch will hit or mate up to the mirror housing on the inside as long as the ign switch it turned on and the bulb is good the light will come on. If the switch is off the light will not come on unless its tied to the ign lug on the fuse box.
