ChiefJones
So...I got my engine in...did the initial break in and will be taking it out as soon as its not all Mud and Slush for the first 2 miles out of my shop. With the rebuilt motor, bored 30 over with a cam what should I see for water temps while running down the road and at a stop?
Sam (Bones)
if your cooling system is up to snuff, the same temp as your thermostat if using a mechanical fan, if using an electric fan it should run up to where your fans kick in, maybe a little over that
72-CLASSIC_RIDE
If stock motor with factory radiator and thermostate you should be at 190 degress. If so and are overheating, check thermostate or for a plugged radiator. My 2 cents  Doug
ChiefJones
So with the 190 Thermostat I should not see much more than say 195 whether I am driving or it is sitting idling in the driveway...correct?
Sam (Bones)
if your radiator, fan clutch (if equipped with one) all working properly, ignition timing, and fuel mixture (carb) can effect temperature too
