NewTimer
-For those who have installed a vintage air kit or evaporator- I will be adding a Vintage air gen IV evaporator over this coming winter and have removed my factory AC and heat while I have my engine out of the car. My question is, are any of the factory connectors and wires used ? I assume they are not but just want some confirmation before removing or hiding them. bobsmc
there no wiring that can remember that is reused.
black07ss
With that system do you use the old heater control switch in the dash or do you get a new one for the controls?
bobsmc
new everything is plug and play except the power and ground
black07ss
HUUMM, makes me wonder if I should scrap the original and go with Vintage air before I waste money making a 40 year old system work. The plenum looks smaller Bob I would assume there is a heater core and evaporator with the system
NewTimer
Good to know, what did you do will all the old wires Bob(bobmc)? I don't know if I should hide them or just remove them. and Bob(black07ss) - I am going with it because it just cleans the engine bay up so nicely and makes the car easier to work on. Also makes it easier to find refrigerant. Just to have my r12 removed from my old system I had to find someone with right licence to do it. black07ss
It sure does clean up things Art. That is why I think I may be better off going with that install instead of trying to make the stock system work
bobsmc
i removed them ,but i pretty much rewired the whole engine bay etc.
MC-71
I believe the stock AC system has it's own harness. I would start to unplug one connector at a time.
