ChrisM
Hey everyone, first time paying attention to this now that Ian putting the hood spear on, why is there a big hole (pictured) the three small holes are perfect, but I have this big hole, i don't know why. Any ideas?
monte70car
Hood looks to be for a 71 base on that hole.
ChrisM
What was the hole meant for? Do you know?
Michael Boyte
I would believe it was to access the flexible ornament on the 71 hood spear.
MC1of80
. The 71 has a flexible ornament. The hole allows for the spring assy that allows it to be.
ChrisM
Ok, so is there any other option for this? I have looked at the 71, not exactly my favorite, does anyone know if a spear is made to cover the hole, without the flexible ornament? monte70car
You might be able to get away with a 72 spear as it’s wide at that point. A 70 spear is to thin. Remind us what year you are working on.
MC1of80
The 72 covers it completely. Somewhere along the line the hood on my 70 was replaced with a 71-72. The 70 hood spear was reused. As you know the hole can be seen , slightly if you look. I have heard of people making a slightly larger gasket to cover the hole. Hope this helps.
