  1. Build the motor, trans go bye bye, build the trans, rear end goes bye bye, build the rear, tires go bye bye, get some slicks, tread life still goes bye bye Id love doing a blower setup, I just know Ill have to go through the entire car to do so. I dont think 5 PSI would really be pushing that hard, but it still is more pressure so you should have the motor rebuilt beforehand. Ive blown up to many motors older and newer to know, you want to do it right. It sucks doing things 2 times.
  2. That is awesome. If I wasn't such a purest, I would do it.
  3. Ill have to take some pics of the stuff I use at work. Its a header coating that you can put on pretty much straight rust. I use aircraft stripper beforehand and then coat stock manifolds with a foam brush for 3-4 coats. Its been over a year on one of the cars I did and they still look brand new from the factory. I hope your method looks purdy for a while too. It does look awesome in black.
  4. Yup, I always go online for custom type items. I have the kegs one as well and it works wonders.
  5. Cleaned it up and drove it yesterday and today until my throttle cable gets in to the dealership on my 98 S10 DD. Cruising down the highway and the thing randomly snaps...100$ in parts and tow fees later.
  6. Yes Sir, it's right on their website.
  7. Q-jets are very temperamental. If it has been stored in a good area with no contaminants falling into it, and the gas drained before being stored, you could try it out. On another hand, I ALWAYS rebuild a carb before throwing it on. ESP if it has been sitting for a while, or you have no idea where it came from. Gas can sit in the bottom and turn into a dust like substance and clog it up within the first few miles. Rebuilding them are not that easy with the choke linkage placement as well as all of the other mechanical rods. The accelerator pumps like to catch on the spring and be destroyed if not installed, or lubricated properly beforehand. and make sure you get the lean out screws that protrude from the carb since using the special tool is a pain in the butt on your car. As for intake, you might have to switch it to use the choke, I think thats it. Everything else should just bolt up. And then the last advise, dont use a q-jet. Many people like them, many people hate them. Im stuck in the middle. You can craigslist a edelbrock or holley for decently cheap and they are easier to rebuild, find cheaper parts, and they are more tuneable to what you want to do as in gas saving or track racing with a 5 minute jet and rod change. Just my 4 cents
  8. Digging the first pic of that motor, but hating that scoop... Its great to go to a show and seeing so many montes. I went to duck tail and they had quite a few. Its always fun sharing the same interests and talking what you are going to do next.
  9. Im sure I can make it, but very depressing on how far the date is. Cant wait for the warmer weather already...
  10. Why would you want a return hose? Very interesting. Guess I learn something new every day.
  11. Are you sure this isn't the fuel pump? I Dont think I have ever seen a 3 port fuel filter ever. The only factory fuel filter will be in your carb. Undo the fuel line and then the nut that the fuel line screws into, unthreads and you will find a gasket, spring, and filter. Usually a 1 inch wrench will untwist the housing. Try to post pics of what you think is the fuel filter and we can tell you exactly what you have.
  12. My boss did some research and bought them for me. I picked them up today. I'll get the receipt tomorrow. They are the black hoses with the OEM stripes. Rather than aftermarket logos or screen writing. I'll post the pictures and links tomorrow. Edit: I did some quick research and these are the ones I bought. http://m.ebay.com/itm/111201622154?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1 They look spectacular and will go on after the engine build/underhood organization process. About the same price I paid.
  13. Played with the carb and forgot I leaned it out and didn't take off the filter. One new edelbrock element later..... And bought some OEM looking heater hoses and some new wax to throw in before storage.
  14. Some VERY nice looking cars. Congratulations on the victory.
  15. Let me know if there are any other "drive worthy shows" down there and I'll make the trip. On other note, I'm still giving storage the bird and drove her for a good while. Will be driving it into work tomorrow. Put mid-grade in the tank and saw a decent improvement. I'm just happy we have mid 50's weather for highs so its not completely freezing.
