  1. Hi Chris. Usually hooker has a tag/plate riveted to one of the tubes easily to see. I have hooker super comp headers on my 70 SS. They have 3 1/2 inch collectors. My car sits at a stock ride height and I have more than enough clearance. The headers you have may not be hookers. If you go with stock exhaust manifolds, I'm sure you know you will loose power/performance. Depending on your engine it may not be as noticable. From what I have heard and seen on video, 3/4 length headers really are not much better, performance wise than the factory exhaust manifold. I know these are not perfect answers, but food for thought. Lolol I'm sure you will get all sorts of answers. Only you know what's best for your ride. Good luck!
  2. Great thanks! So the one I pictured is what then? Has a tight "curl" like the 70 you have pictured but looks to be "crushed/dimpled" like the 71 you have pictured. Maybe the way the pic was taken. Lol
  3. Hello all! This question is for those of you who have 71 402 Monte's or anyone who knows. Lol What color plastic is at the end of your oil dipstick? Red? Yellow? Other? Here is an example....

    Prayers

I'm so sorry. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  5. Thank you Canuck. I agree. It did not though. I selected the 5 pics and only one posted. That is the color my pictured 71 402 4speed is supposed to be. What color interior is yours? I love your car by the way! Lololol
  6. Sorry, don't know why all the pics won't post on one post. ☹️
  7. Took the 71 402 4speed out of a looooong hibernation to start the restoration. Put the 72 next to the 70 SS454 for a winters rest.
  8. Welcome again and just keep watching the site when you can. I'm sure you can help me and others.
  9. You are welcome. That's what we are here for. I actually know about them thanks to 714024SPEED.
  10. The exterior side is a weatherstrip. Not made for Monte's. I believe the Oldsmobile guys have that moulding available. For the 70-72 Cutlass SX coupe. (Not fast back/442)
  11. Idk. Maybe, but that one is relatively easy to find and get. The chrome and weatherstrip. I'm thinking it seals the rear quarter window to the sail panel of the quarter. We will have to wait for his response. Lol
  12. Hello! Welcome! Your question is a little vague. Would love to see some pics.
  13. Hi Crank. Short answer... NO! The shocks are towards the front of the rear, rear itself is longer, driveshaft has a CV joint type set up and you can not find gears or posi for that rear. It's not a 12 bolt like you think. Go on the Oldsmobile forums and you will see what I am talking about. Quick answer is let it go. Not what you want or need. Just my .02
  14. With console- no pattern on ball Without console- pattern on ball
  15. Thank you all for the quick responses. Sredmyer- the shifter ball is left blank on the Montes and Chevelle's because the "4speed pattern" is on the console.
  16. Hello all. Getting ready to start to restore my 71 402 4speed, classic copper, dark saddle int Monte Carlo this winter. Does anyone know what shifter ball came on the 4speed cars? I know they were plain, no 4speed pattern on them due to the pattern being on the console. Black or white?
  17. I bet it was alot of work. I had to ask. Lol I cant wait to see what you do. I would like to put the sport mirrors on both of my 71 402 Monte's.
  18. Nice job Steve! Ummmm making any more? Lol. Just asking. I couldn't agree with you more about driving without the right side mirror! PITA!!!!
  19. Over on Chevelle stuff.net there is an engine chart. CKN- 402, 4bbl, 330hp,LS3, th400. Your engine has the correct code. Most likely the original engine. Could check the casting codes and match them to the cars build date. Good luck finding the VIN.
  20. More than welcome. Lol good luck!
  21. Some put them in the glove box. I personally put mine on the fender well by the battery under the fender. Basically where the wires for the front turnsignal goes through the fender well. Tucked out of the way and still accessable.
