What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
Rob Peters replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Congrats, That's quite a haul rob -
Sounds like your vacuum advance isn't functioning properly. That is one of the possible causes. You didmy say if you have a stock ignition, electronic ignition, etc. Let us know what alterations there are under the hood. rob

I caught glimpses of mine 4 or 5 times in the new Mindhunter series on Netflix. I have heard the show has been renewed for this coming year with filming starting in the early spring of 2018. rob

Yes, stacked Square headlamps. rob

My current Monte was a customer order and originally purchased at a dealer in Williamsport, Pa and was built in Baltimore. My first Monte which I purchased new off a dealer lot in Jacksonville, Florida was built in Flint Mich. It seems odd it went all the way from Michigan rather than being built in the Baltimore plant which was closer to Florida. I was wondering if maybe dealer stock orders may have been handled by the Flint plant and customer orders handled by other plants...... just a thought????? rob

If the door fitment (spacing at the latch area) is good I would not mess with the door spacing by messing with the door hinges. Removing the fenders should be pretty straight forward. Yes, the fender extensions (headlight buckets) inner fenders, hood hinges etc will need to be removed first. Once those are removed you should be able to find all of the bolts securing the fenders. rob

Thanks Willie, I tried to look up that company that yours came from and can't find anything related to Air Conditioning Compressors and the same deal with looking up The Parts Authority. There are no Parts Authority locations in Pennsylvania so I am striking out with that one. rob

Thanks All!!!! Keep the suggestions coming. Willie, let me know what you find out. Also Willie, was yours rebuilt for R12 or R134. From what I have heard the R134 is much thinner and can escape around the seals. rob

I have been trying to research this by finding old posts but can't find the information. Does anyone know of a place that will rebuild my 70 Air Conditioning Compressor. I do not want a modern version by another company, I want to keep it stock. I know some places will sell you a reconditioned but was hoping for a place that will do the rebuild of mine. My compressor leaks around the front seal. I figure I will also replace other components in the system. Most every thing is in decent shape such as the lines, condenser etc. I was also going to replace the drier and expansion valve along with the compressor. Besides these three things does anyone have suggestions on what else I should replace in the system. I thought I remembered there was a place in Florida that would do this rebuild but could not find it here on the site. I did find a place on line in New Jersey that sells the remanufactured compressors but am not sure if they rebuild your existing one.. The name of the place is CARiD. rob

Good Evening all. Below is a post from Patricia (Red). Please keep Dave's family in your thoughts and prayers: Hello to Dave's friends, this is his wife Patricia (Red). Most of you know that Dave passed away last night with his family with him. He is now at peace and out of pain in the arms of our Lord Jesus. I know how much the racing community meant to him and how much he loved the sport and the people associated with it. There will be a grave side funeral on Friday the 24th @ 10am at Evergreen Memorial Park 7961 OR-99W, McMinnville, OR 97128, followed by an open house at our home located @ 568 E 16th St, Lafayette, 97127. You are more than welcome to join our family in celebrating Dave's life. If you have any questions please feel free to text me @ 916-996-6095 or email redisaid@yahoo.com. Love to all.

It is funny how things change over time. When these pictures were taken the focal point of the photos was the new puppy. Now when I look at them I see the beauty in my original Monte and looking back all of those years I realize how lucky I have been all of these years for the love from my then new wife. rob

Below are some pictures of my original Monte Carlo. I came across them while looking for something else. Yep, I was a young pup back then. Pat and I had just gotten our first dog, a Cocker Spaniel puppy. The last picture is of the 1975 Cutlass Supreme I bought used after I sold my Monte. I used that Cutlass Supreme to tow my Model A from Jacksonville, Florida to Pittsburgh. The transmission in the Cutlass blew the day after we got home with my Model A. rob

Sorry Dan, I misunderstood your response. rob

If I am not mistaken, my 70 battery tray is not only attached to the radiator support but also has an additional support that goes down and attaches to either the inner fenders or the inner well filler platerob

Rod, like I said above, it will be a glance. As each scene it was in began I recognized the scene, because I was there, so I started watching like a hawk or I could have missed it too. In the beginning I was Luke warm on it but once the characters and storyline was set I thought it got better. That said, I still think some of the scenes last too long.rob

The last episode of the season, episode 10, Holden and his girlfriend are in a grocery and at about 22:24, as they are leaving at 22:25 the car driving by is me in my Monte Carlo. Rob
-
I was watching episode 9 this evening. At around 17:20 the star is standing outside a laundromat, looking at his girlfriend inside as he enters the laundromat and around 17:25 I drive by in my Monte for a full side shot of my car. If you aren't watching for it you will miss it because it is an evening scene. rob
-
Sorry Ron but no is the answer.
-
Well, it isn't much but One day while I was working our son, Tom, took my car to one of the shoots and part of my car is in a scene. You can see the passenger side roof and very little of the top of the passenger rear fender. It is in episode 5 if you start watching around the 14:30 mark of that episode. Again, it isn't much but it is there. rob
-
I have now watched 4 episodes. My car and I were at the scene in episode 4 at the 22 minute mark. We were there for 9 hours for them to shoot that less than 90 second scene and my cat never made it in the scene. I will continue to watch the remaining 6 episodes. rob
