  1. They will look much better mounted onto a Monte!!! rob
  2. Mine had the air bags installed in the Springs when I bought it. When I rebuild the suspension and installed new springs and shocks I removed them from my old springs and reinstalled them into my new springs. They work great and didn't change the way the car rides. The first Eastern Meet I hosted I was very glad I kept them. I had almost forgotten about them being there until...... when I loaded up my car with all of the awardschool, door prizes, luggage and supplies needed (along with my unicycle) every inch of trunk space was filled and the interior was filled to the top of the seats with only enough space for me to squeeze into the drivers seat. Once the car was fully loaded the rear end was really sagging and the front end was very high....then I remembered the air bags and two minutes later the car was level again so I am an advocate of yhe air bags. rob
  3. Yep per it does, go here to help decode: http://www.firstgenmc.com/tech/vindecoding.shtml rob
  4. For all of our members going to the Western Meet.... have a wonderful time while you are there but most of all have a safe drive going and coming. For many of you, that is a very long drive so take plenty ao relax breaks, good for you and even better for your Monte. Safe travels to you all and have a wonderful time..... wish I could be there with you, oh well, maybe someday I will make both meets. rob
  5. I don't usually wear one of my club shirts to church but today I did today because I was planning to take the grandkids to a car cruise that afternoon. At the end of the mass our Priest announced the cup would be in the community park just down the street from our church. When we saw Father Jim down at the park I said to him...."I noticed you didn't make that announcement prior to starting the Mass.....why was that, did you think half of us would leave right away?" Father Jim and another one of our Priest showed up after we had been in line about 20 minutes and all I can say is rank has its privileges because they were allowed to go to the front of the line, after all, they had more Masses to say and souls to save. rob
  6. Today I Han an opportunity to have my picture taken with The Stanley Cup!!! As luck would have it, I was wearing a FGMCC T-Shirt. This may be the first time the most cherished prize award in the National Hockey League has been photographed with a FGMCC Logo Shirt. rob
  7. Sounds good on the drive rob
  8. Well, it was a long day. There were 16 cars and drivers ab out of those 16 2 of them were 70 Montes, mine and a young lady with a light green one. The car had been her dads car. It originally had fender skirts and is a bucket seat and console car with a vinyl top and a nice unrestored vehicle. I had my tablet with me and introduced her to the club wec site so hopefully we will see her and her husband here on the boards. They asked all of us to return tomorrow afternoon to another shooting location but unfortunately I wont be able to make it but they will call me in the future for another shoot. rob
  9. Thanks Vinve, I have to leave in the morning, in the rain, a little after 7:00 to head to the site of the first shoot location. With the poor weather in the forecast it looks to be a long day. rob
  10. Like he never saw that kind of antics at the WDC. rob
  11. Like Bruce said, "Everyone is different". It all comes down to personal preference. Also like Bruce, my car is totally totally stock so I went with the plastic inner fenders. I have been extremely happy with them. I have had them on the car now for 15 years and they look today the same as they did the day I installed them. No cracks, no scratches and no problems at all. No they don't shine up like painted metal but that is fine because the look stock. rob
  12. Since the original post they have called me several times to use my Monte again but every time they have called I was either scheduled to work or we already had plans. Today they called again and they want my car on Thursday the 25th., weather permitting. They want to use it in two different shoots that day in two different places about a 25 minute drive time apart. Both of these places are up near Scott Scooter Stephens home, maybe I will drop in for supper but I doubt it...... usually the movie people eat very well and we would eat with them. Hope the weather is good. rob
  13. Since the last time they used my Monte for this film they have called me several times to use the Monte again but I had to turn them down due to my work schedule or our recent vacation. They called again today and wanted my Monte for tomorrow and then again next Thursday. I have plans for tomorrow but next Thursday they will use my Monte in two locations....weather permitting. rob
  14. I talked to Larry recently and he said he has been sick lately. He said the guy who made them is in his 80's now and doesn't know if he can still make them. I invited him to stop by the site and check out the possible demand for these pieces. rob
  15. Very nice Aaron. That one would have been hard to part with. I think that is my favorite 71 color. rob
  16. I think that one may be too far gone. You may be able to find a better one from one of our members. rob
  17. First off...... spray that mud-dobbers nest and get it out of there. It looks like you have your work cut out for you. There are nooks and crannies you aren't going to be able to get to without doung some part removals first, the grease and gunk is just too extensive. After getting rid of that nesy take as mant pictures (from different angles) of wire, vacuum and linkage connections and routing. Then start removing things. If you don't do what Dave suggested it will be hard to clean everything up.....not impossible but hard. For that much gunk to be present you have to have some leakage that needs to be fixed with new gaskets or cleaning it up and painting it will be a waste of time. Personally, i would make it a winter project. Good luck and keep us updated with pictures. rob
  18. That is the reason so many of our members use the Metro products. I installed my trunk seal last year and did not need to do any adjustments... It was a perfect fit. Just a note, Metro is a sponsor/donor of many door prizes for our Eastern and Wester Meets and we love to support our sponsors. rob
  19. Doug, mine had 36,000 original miles on her when I bought het in 2001 and now every time she rolls another 1K a little tear comes to my eye. rob9
  20. Metro Moulded is excellent and what many here use. rob
  21. Glad you are racking up the miles, it shows it is being driven. I turned 55,000 orig miles on my old girl returning home from the Eastern Meet.rob
  22. Like Sam said. Sounds like the printed circuit board. If it is only showing on the dash that is the most likely. If the actual lights are lit outside the car It could be one of the flashers contributing but since the high beam light is also on dimly it sounds like the printed circuit board for the instrument panel. rob
  23. My apologies to Steve and Rick... For some reason the links to the pictures of them and myself would not open. I have corrected the error and now all three of these cars now show up. Sorry about that guys. By the way: Someone sent me a PM asking if, since I was not posting the pictures of the club award winners if I could at least post who won the show awards. There were no awards from the Blue Suede Cruse show, only door prizes and one of our members won the grand prize of those door prizes but I did not get any pictures of that and I prefer to also wait for Scott's announcement of our club awards and to tell you who won that grand prize before posting pictures of the club awards. Scott, being on vacation last week has a lot of catching up at work to do and I am sure he will be on line soon to post those winners. After he does that I will post the winners receiving their awards at the award dinner. Boy is this week a let down. The anticipation and getting the car ready, packing, traveling there to meet up and renew old friendships and making new ones, spending time at the show and the wrap up with the club awards and of course the bench racing and now back to reality.... I think once there we should never leave so we don't have these week after let-down's. OH WELL, unfortunately that is not possible. Thanks for all of those who attended, all of those who helped each other with car repairs, all of those who assisted in removing the canopy tops and lowering the frames every afternoon and then assisting putting them back up in the morning. Thanks to those who helped rope off and set up blocking cars to hold our spots each night. Thanks who helped with the club coolers. Most of all, thanks to all who attended because no amount of work can make an event successful without people traveling many miles to attend so finally thanks to all who traveled those many miles to attend......... including Rich Eckenfels who traveled a total of 4 miles to be at the show......... sorry Rich, I could not resist that. rob
