My second company car was a Cutlass S. It had a 350 4Brl and posi-traction. That car could really move and it was great in snow. Later we purchased a 1976 Cutlass Supreme 2door. I put a trailer hitch on it and we used it to tow my Model A Ford from Jacksonville Florida to Pittsburgh, Pa. A few days later the transmission in the Cutlass Supreme gave out. rob

I installed my after market plastic inner fender wells over 12 years ago and have not had any issues with them at all. They look as good today as the day I installed them. No cracks or scratches or any other issues. I am not sure if you can order any inner fender wells as an individual item nor would you want to because they won't match. The problem with purchasing a used original is they will be very brittle after all these years. You say you want to keep it original so the metal ones would not be an option. For the most part I think the reproduction plastic ones are pretty decent. Others may chime in with the ones they have ordered and how much like original they look so keep posted. rob

It is interesting to watch the production. While there I chatted with a lot of the crew and a couple cast members. It is amazing to see just how many people it takes to do a production like this . It seems that each of these individuals have a different task to do and not much else. I was more upset about not enough exposure for the First Gen Monte...the pay is just a bonus rob

After getting up early to be on the set on time, going through wardrobe and standing around all day, at 4:00PM the director said he felt thaton that narrow residential street, with all the equipment and people that it would be too dangerous to have the cars passing each other and then backing up to starting positions for up to 50 retakes that he wasnt going to do that so, unless the car can be seen in the background it won't be in that scene. I will still be paid as an Extra and for the car so it wasnt a totally wasted day. rob

I got another casting call this evening for a shoot this coming Tuesday early in the morning. It is at the first shoot location I had for this show. They called me and another car because the director wanted two of the cars that were in the original scene. The shoot location is supposed to be the residence where the star lives. Hopefully it won't be a very long day. rob

Willie, Yeah, I damaged my Right Achilles Tendon shortly after the Carlisle GM Nationals while pushing my Model A Ford to pop the clutch to get it started and pushed off to hard. They were trying to treat it by me wearing a boot and going through a couple rounds of Physical Therapy with no relief. It has been a long time in a air cast. On the 15th they are going to do a procedure called Platelet Rich Plasma Injection or PRP. They will take my blood and spin it down and then inject the plasma portion which contains the platelets directly into the the tendon. Following this I will not be allowed to put any weight on that leg for 3 weeks. The 4th week only my toe can touch the floor, the 5th week 25% touch and the 6th week only 50% weight so I will be on crutches for a long time. Glad to hear you are making progress on your car. Hopefully it will be ready for the 2020 Carlisle show Eastern Meet for the 50 years of Monte Celebration. rob

I took my Monte for a short ride. As I posted before, I was recently notified that I was losing my Monte Storage garage on January 1st so I needed to act immediately because I am going to be laid up for awhile. I was able to find a nice garage and moved her from one garage storage area to another yesterday. rob

I feel this is only SOMETIMEs true. If you buy it already restored maybe yes but for the average person,what it costs to to restore one yourself, I feel it is almost impossible to even break even. rob

By the way.... sorry, I forgot to say welcome aboard the boards. We already know you have good taste in cars since: #1 You owned a Monte before #2 It was a 1970, arguably the best year of Monte Carlo #3 If it was Blue you had hit a Grand Slam

Numbers Matching= It has the original (FACTORY) engine, transmission etc....never replaced All Original= This can mean either Never restored with all factory parts or restored to factory original NOS= speaks of original unused parts. NOS can be New Old Stock or New Original Stock and it refers to parts that have never been installed on a car. Survivor= A car that has never been renewed in any way, including paint, interior, engine...... basically untouched original car That is a start on terms. Now, for our beloved Montes. -If one has a vinyl watch for rust under the vinnyl -Look in the trunk for evidence of rust of the trunk floor and up under the package -put it on a lift and check the frame and floorboards for rust and damage -Check the rear wheel wells and wheel well lips for rust damage -Check front fenders behind the tire for rust damage I am sure others chime in with items. One last item is this, it is always cheaper to buy one already restored or mostly restored than to do it all yourself rob

Back in the days I would have to say yes but not now. You will need to drill your own. rob
