  1. If I'm not mistaken the original voltage to your stock points distruster should about 9 or 10 volts … These original wires are routed thru starter and no longer needed.. I just folded them up and stuck them in the wire tray near the wiper motor.. If you connect them you will blow the new in line fuse when you least expect… This happened to me when I made my conversion… I was told by an idiot to keep the brown wire connected.. I had to figure it out on a hot day during a road trip… Hope that makes sense.. Ed.
  2. David Also, this may help…. Over the years I've added a lot of accessories and I always route the power directly to the main fuse block ... ie : automatic door locks that work like the new cars with alarm system and key fob… Back up camera.. trailer hitch with tail lights and turn signal hook ups… I never tap an existing wire for anything… To the horrors of our purest friends , you can see the camera near the Monte script … It is needed for my wife so she can drive and enjoy the car as well... Ed ...
  3. David, I went to the fuse panel under the dash (drivers side next to steering column) with a wire and 15 Amp inline fuse. Plugged it in the switch side of the ignition and ran it to thru the firewall to the HEI distributer.. Really simple… If you look closely , you may find a predrilled hole in the firewall.. I drilled a hole in mine way back in the 1980's. I use after market gages and use the hole for everything I need... Be sure to use an inline fuse and a grommet in the hole you choose route the wire thru. Welcome to the club David. Ed..

Ron I was thinking about that too.. If it's a head gasket funny things will happen when that compression starts to swap holes… Got my fingers crossed for you and hoping it's simple. Ed

Ron , I'd start with the injectors and then the injector pump …. My old Cummins used to love doing this. I doubt it's cylinder failure… After looking at the different levels of engine cleaning, could you have possibly gotten water in your fuel ? Looking at those back cylinders and the discoloring may give you a clue on where to start. The head gasket could have blown and leaking water internally… If this happened it can be devastating if you start it with water in one of the cylinders.. My old Ford diesel pickup was famous for that. Never could keep head gaskets in the Ford… With only three cylinders, all it takes is for one to misfire and make you think the worse. If the problem started quickly after being used for awhile, I'd go for the injectors first. If it occurred on start up following a long period of sitting, I'd suspect the head gasket leaked slowly and possibly flooded a cylinder. I'd place my bet on injector rear cylinder. Ed
  7. Sam This is another product I use. I always keep a gallon on hand… I average 10 gallons on every fill up and add about 2 to 3 oz each time.. I refill the expensive small Lucas bottles in my garage and keep 6 in the trunk .. Simple and fast. I also use it in the fuel tanks of my home equipment, Zero turn , tractor mowers, All 4stroke small engines, generators, Polaris ranger, etc. There is no doubt in my mind, this stuff helps the engine and fuel systems.. Even after long periods of storage, My Monte fuel float works perfectly and has for many years. This product is everything it claims to be.. Ed
  8. Sam Oil arrived today on the original promised date… Total time to get here was 4 days… I plan to keep my inventory high.. My way of investing in the futures market… 😎

I love the place.. 650 Acres and was totally self sufficient. Grew sugar cane and grapes.. Produced a lot of cane syrup… Some long stories for another venue. Yes,, the two seater was mandatory and always had a Sears Roebuck catalog… Central heat meant you had two fireplaces that got so hot they would scorch your pants from 10 ft way.. The bedrooms were so cold that you slept with your dog under about 3 blankets and a couple of quilts…

I grew up on well water. My family is from the swamps of southern Ga, northern Fla, and Alabama. I think we were considered wealthy (LOL),,, because we built our homes around our hand pumps.. Hence, we had indoor plumbing in the kitchen… If you look closely you can see the Clawfoot tub on the back porch.. It had it's own hand pump… Our original homestead still stands and is now a state park for all to enjoy…
  11. My alternator stopped working a few days ago … I had recently had it rebuilt ... Lucky for me the plastic plug in back of the alternator had broken and I was able to temporarily tape the plastic plug together and finish our trip..

We've been fortunate with our well… It's been producing pure and clean water since 1977… I installed a new 3/4 horse pump in back 1985 and it's never been removed… Other than a couple of new pressure tanks it's still pumping strong… It's only 95' deep, but closer to the valley floor. Some of our neighbors dug higher on the hill and have major problems with wells that are 600 to 700' deep and requiring much larger pumps. Some of those wells came in at 40 to 100 GPM, but are now dry..

Hank and I had to make emergency repairs at the well head… Well blew a PVC fitting while wife was in the shower…. NOT GOOD… !!! After some quick electrical checks up the hill , We found the problem …...
  15. Tom , I totally agree. Given a choice of two cars……. The last one I'd take cross country would be the perfect fifty year old car that is totally stock or original… I'd take the one with a few modern upgrades like ignition, brakes, fuel and maybe a few road chips Ed C
  16. I think the problem is inherent in the design of the old rotors… That ridge is probably causing the squeal… Age and wear doesn't work well with that design… Been there and done that….. A new set of Bosch rotors and new pads will end the problem… went to Bosch rotors years ago…They last longer and I've never had them warp. Turning rotors never made sense to me… For a few bucks more I can have rotors that aren't prone to warpage after having them turned… Based on the age, I'd probably put new calipers on too.. Ed C

  18. Sammy, It shipped…. Should be here Thursday ….. A day late,,, doesn't matter .. I also ordered the 10w30 today… I use it in the winter months…..It will come from another supplier thru Amazon … I'm not sure, but think you can get this stuff in a 3pk also… I' m hoping the price remains constant... I plan to keep this stuff around…. It works in all of my older cars and yard equipment.. I'm good for at least 5 oil changes now.. Ed C.

    Memorabilia Highway.

It pays to look back and remember…… Let's go with that $1.50 per hour thing for a moment… Now it's $15 per hour…. Using that comparison standard for todays cost of gas, those 3.3 Gallons divided into $15.00 , Equals about $4.55 per gallon…… BTW , you can make the same analysis with the cost of a big mac meal… I recall when a Big Mac full meal deal was $1.50….. About 1963… $6.00 plus for gas ????? WHY????? We can all speculate …. But, I'll say this ,,, "This ain't gonna work for very long." Seems like things are going backwards… Just my humble opinion.. Ed C..

In 1963, I worked part time at a Flying A Gas station in Roseville Calif for $1.50 per hour … Gas was 33.9 for Reg,,,, 37.9 for Ethyl … Premium was referred to as Ethyl … BTW. even back in 1963 gas in Calif was always above the national average… There was no mid grade. I recall that for $1.00 you could get 3.3 gallons …. A full tank was usually about 6 bucks… You could also get a new set of Tiger paws mounted and balanced for under $ 100.00. Ed..

Back in 1963 room rates were $ 15 to 20 per night. …. Gas in the desert was about 35 to 40 cents per gallon, just a few cents over normal, but those few cents were critical when on a budget… I recall pulling away from a gas station if it was over 40 Cents. Sometimes I would buy just enough to make to the next major town... We had a 1960 Pontiac Ventura 4dr Flat top… We paid $1600 for the car in "63 and it had 32000 miles… Beautiful Car…. This was my favorite of all cars until the 1970 Monte Carlo was introduced… Gas wars were common back in the day, and prices were usually about half the rate…
