My go to oils for all flat tappet engines ..

Zinc levels in many diesel oils have changed recently..

I use the Lucas racing oil 10/40 with zinc.. (Summer), During the winter I use the 10/30 order it from Amazon…. I was told that the additive is less effective,,, Something to do with detergent levels in some oils,,, but I've used it with Valvoline 10/30. I'm a believer in Lucas products ,, I've used them for years in my Diesel pickup… Both are great oils as there are many others. Ed C

It feels good waking up this the morning knowing I didn't sell my Monte yesterday…. My wife is still here too after 62 years…. I know when I have something good… Thinking about taking her on a long road trip, may take wife too… LOL. Pic was taken in the car museum ,Clinton Oklahoma… about 10 years ago.

Took my wife Angel, and Hank ,my dog , for a thrill ride to Harbor Freight…. LOL Like most of us, we have all been asked if the Monte is for sale…. A man was at my Monte when I returned and asked me the famous question… I politely showed him the car …. He gave me an offer and It was way more than I would have asked had it been for sale… I gave it some thought and consulted the wife… Told him sorry,,,, I really appreciate the offer but it's not for sale… He added another 3000 to his offer and let me know he was dead serious… I think I'm having some type of remorse, but I had to say no… The car will go (sold) to my grandson of choice and remain in the family.. Even my Grandson will get no free car. Interesting day. Ed C.

Yep… almost the same scenario here.. Were getting new, younger neighbors and fortunately they are all on board with safety and fire control… My property is now the standard they are following…. Great kids… LOL all under 50. I'm way past the controlled burn thing. It's now tree trimming, mowing, some weed eating and feeding the chickens…

I've been through at least 4 fires… One was really bad and almost got my home….Being prepared is of the utmost…My neighbors are all in tune now… I recently installed a 3000 gal water tank, three 1000 gal tanks and a sprinkler system with three generators to keep my home safe. My cars will be in the middle of that pasture if a fire breaks out…. There is no way I'll evacuate my home and let the fire department decide which home to save.

The shape is different… The ones I received were shaped more like the Monte housing… For almost twice the price it looks as if they cut some corners to accommodate a ford truck as well.. It was a simple install.. I cut the pigtail to about 4" and connected the bulb adapter. First one took a few minutes longer… second one took about 15 minutes… I really like mine. They are a great safety upgrade. Given a choice, I'd still buy the ones from Ebay. Ed c

I was reading that the gear ratio is stamped on the passenger side of the rear housing of some differentials … After doing the math with an online calculator, it looks like I am running 308 gearing rather than the 256…

Car is beautiful .. love the wheels too…. A friend gave me his mid 60's Bonneville 15" wheels… I was tired of trying to find 14 inch tires for my 63 Bonny… Your wheels look as close as I've seen… Would sure appreciate the part numbers and brand source… I've been considering putting on 17" wheels on my Monte and replacing the 215/70/15's with 225/55/17's…. Your wheels would be my choice … They are a great visual match to my Bonny wheels… Thank you ,Mike.. Ed C..

Washed her, drove it to the hobby shop and changed the oil… Took out a loan on my house and filled the tank … LOL Ed C.

Installed a new exhaust manifold for the drivers side… The old manifold was flat ,,but the bolt holes were difficult to align… Rather than spend the time and labor, I decided to go with a Dorman manifold from Amazon… The Dorman gives another inch of clearance for the motor mount… That's a plus… The negative is, it has the small bungs for an emissions car… Most of them are hidden below the factory A/C,, so it doesn't matter to me ...

Looks great…. By coincidence,,, I put a new one on mine today (drivers side) ….. I used the ceramic coat on mine about a year ago… It does a great job… I ordered a Dorman from Amazon… I was having problems with repetitive leaking I was tired of replacing the manifold gaskets… The old manifold is ok I'm sure, but it was a bit off on the bolt holes from the heat… The new one bolted up perfectly.. and saved a lot of labor trying to make it fit properly… The Dorman provides more clearance from the drivers side motor mounts which is a plus… The negative is the Dorman has the four bungs for emissions,,, but I think it's worth the trade off. On my car it's mostly hidden by the factory AC..

Like Rob says,,, "Beautiful color" … This would be my color choice if I ordered today.. BTW.. That lake looks very much like the one about a half mile from my house … Lake Wildwood… Ed ...

Her third vinyl top… Very minor surface rust in the lower rear corner…. Treated it and still looks new.. BTW, I think changing the vinyl top three times played a major part in lack of rust…

Back in 1992, I installed a new engine, painted my Monte and stored it in the barn until 2005… I also stored my 63 Bonneville… I was simply too overwhelmed and interested in making my business grow.. My accountant and wife decided it was time for me to slow down and enjoy my toys, so in 2005 I pulled the Monte out first and had it running and washed in about two days… The paint was still perfect. The fuel tank was purged and cleaned… New tires , a few safety items resolved, and we were on our way to Florida for a major family reunion… The contrasting pics above prove that dirt never hurts the paint .. Nothing was retouched… I decided to put a new vinyl top on her because a cat did some minor damage ….

Thought I'd share some very old pics from the past. This was taken at the Medford show 2007… The 72 Malibu was my wife's former car and was at one time a color match for my 70 Monte. We sold it to our son-in law 27 years ago… He's now running a 383 stroker, about 450 hp , solid lifters, 700r4 with 308 gearing … The young man in my Monte is my grandson … He was 17 years old at that time.. We have five grandsons and five great-grandsons... They all want the Monte… Think I'll wait until my great great grandsons arrive… Very possible that one of my three grand daughters or 5 great granddaughters will get it…. Ed C

Drove the Monte about 75 miles today… All the way,,,, I was waiting for the big one to hit my new windshield….Passed two rock pits and several gravel trucks. That section of road is notorious for rocks… The alternate route is worse….
