  1. This is a snip from the instructions of the 1181 unit Aaron currently has. Seems pretty specific about what type coil they recommend. Later versions (Ignitor II and III) say to upgrade coil and remove ballast resistors/resistance wire.
  2. It won't work with the unit he has, unless he goes to a different unit. He sent me a pic of what he has, it is the 1181 kit. It appears to pretty much be a points replacement unit only, which also says to keep the resistance wire and points type coil (not full 12 voltage during continuous use). This is really good timing for me, because yesterday I was starting to go thru that Camaro's wiring and noticed the coil said use resistor, and still had the resistance wire. I wondered if that should have full 12 volts, and if I should rewire it on the fly, while going through the rest of it. Based on what I see now, I'm going to leave it be.
  3. I have a car in the shop now with an old pertronix conversion (like 30 years ago I think). The car also has a stock type coil that specifically says on the side of it to use with a ballast resistor, or resistance wire, not full 12 volts (except for starting, which typically uses full voltage). This car here does still use the resistance wire, as well as the old voltage regulator too. I just looked up some instructions for the original series ignition conversion (Igniter series), where it says to use a resistance wire, and not an HEI type coil. Later units (Igniter II & III) say you can bypass the wire, use a different coil, etc. I guess it depends what series conversion setup you have, and follow the directions that come with it. 4. I'd say no issues at all. You're using the factory coil, not some high output type, or a MSD ignition. Basically, the high voltage system is stock specifications, just the trigger mechanism is electronic now, instead of breaker points. Also, it's not like you have very high compression, which would maybe benefit from increased spark energy.
  5. I had my interior on the 'Legendary' catalog cover, and the car in their calander.
  6. They would have been backordered anyways, and shipped about 7 months after Carlisle...
  7. 72 Customs come with that driver side mirror. I think you could get a passenger side as well in Canada, from what I remember seeing here in the past.
  8. As already said, Thank You for all that you do for the club Aaron! CK & Glen, count me in when you go to a Western meet. (I think I may have already made a deal with Aaron not too long ago, that if he came to Carlisle this year, I would make my way out to a Western meet in the future 🙂).
  9. Good, it sounds like you'll be finished long before I get this car done. Some of those links I added earlier also made reference to the resistor on the back of the gauge. Sounded like different colors were used as a 'calibration' for the system, but I didn't read that much into it to see if it was accurate. Something else to consider though, if trying to fine tune the reading.
  10. I answered on your FB post. (Joe Tee)
  11. Yeah, summer time fun only. The closer you get to Toronto, the worse it gets, traffic wise.
  12. That's good info to have! I'll be using that when I get this customers 69 Z/28 running soon. One of his complaints was the temp gauge doesn't work, and I already purchased a Standard Motor Products sensor, TS-6. If that doesn't work, I'll look at a NAPA sensor, but it could very well be the same thing, though they list Echlin as their brand of choice, part # TS6469 I'll use those above values with a resistance decade box though, and run it thru the range to check the gauge itself.
  13. There's a lot of nice open areas, with a decent amount of twisty backroads in the Hamilton area. We used to take the motorcycles and my ZR1 out that way for some fun. Been a few years now since that happened.
  14. Well if nothing else, reserve the room ASAP, because the available block of rooms is dwindling fast. Then, cross off all the things on your list that are above Carlisle, simple.😁 For more life tips, just ask, I have plenty of them .
  15. For you yes, but for the guys in Niagara Falls, Ontario and a couple from the Toronto area, not so bad. In your case, lump it in with the trip to Carlisle this year!!
  16. Something doesn't sound right with what Lectric said, about only reading over 180, makes no sense. What is the resistance reading of the Lectric sensor, sitting at room temp, etc? You've basically function checked the system with resistors to sweep the dash gauge, that's a good sign. I'd maybe suggest you give Shannon a call at 'Redline Gauge Works'. He may be able to help steer you in the right direction. https://redlinegaugeworks.com/ If you call him, let us know what he said. On a side note... since you're in Delaware, any chance we could talk you into coming to the Eastern meet in Carlisle this year, mid June? Found this too, said his resistor was 90 ohms: https://www.chevelles.com/threads/70-ss-temperature-gauge-resistor.53172/ https://www.chevelles.com/threads/70-ss-temp-gauge.1018762/page-2?nested_view=1&sortby=oldest
  17. Up where you are, things may be entirely different as far as shipping, for sure. I have guys from Canada send stuff here, then drive over to pick it up. (Amazon, Summit, Rock Auto, etc.) Wrong Jared, I think...
  18. Summit, plus a few others have them too. I got my first set from there or OPGI at the time. Then I saw the info on the labels, went directly to the source after that. Also found shipping is cheaper if you order online vs. calling them up. $10 flat fee as opposed to actual price. Go figure...
  19. Factory assembly manual, GM Service manual, and Fisher Body manuals will all be invaluable sources of info. As far as fasteners, I use AMK products. The most complete, accurate stuff out there. You can but complete kits, sections, individual stuff, bulk etc. Look in the 'Master Kits' and 'I-Kits' to zero in on whatever vehicle you want, and also check out the 'clips' section, etc. https://www.amkproducts.com/ https://www.amkproducts.com/i-kits/chevrolet-individual-fastener-kits/ https://www.amkproducts.com/master-kits/chevrolet-master-fastener-kits/ Worst case, get on the I-90 and bring the car here...
  20. Hey, hey, hey....bite your tongue...😁

Did any of the other heads you looked at work with your existing exhaust?
