  1. In addition to the above there’s a ton of other things also, carb setting, timing, etc. I just went easy first.
  2. That’s generally going to happen for a couple reasons. First the car is not ever warming up, it’s not getting hot enough to burn the fumes and they are building up. When the car is cold you’re pulling in more fuel do to it being choked and it’s not getting time to burn it. Also check all vacuum hoses for proper hook up. There is a canister by the drivers headlight( opposite side of the car from the battery but close to same place) make sure that is all hooked up. Should be three hoses. Short starts are really hard on cars. Put good gas in and let it run.
  3. Ask all the questions you want. You’re learning about your new ( old) car. Remember nobody on this forum new anything before they learned about it. I still learn everyday and I’m old. Lol. Again ask away.
  4. NO. I have met some of the group. I know that I don’t want to see that kind of contortion. Lol.
  5. I wonder if the hood and engine are up in the tree. 😂
  6. Ya looking at that nasty picture it’s dark blue.
  7. As long as they don’t use salt. So no. I paid less for 10 than I paid for the two. I still have one more switch to fix. I’ll put the rest “ in stock “. lol
  8. My “adjacent area “was originally blue. Though now I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be dark blue (interior) or ascot blue (light)(body color). It sure looked dark blue to me. What was left of it anyway. So it got painted interior color
  9. I sure hope not. Lol Thats the replacement tag the state of California put on the car because the one under the windshield was rusted and gone. They were at least smart enough to verify the original vin and use that number.
  10. I’m staying real vague on this because I do not want to post incorrect information. Until the defogger actually gets used ( right now it works perfectly) I won’t know if I calculated the correct watt / ohms. BUT here is what I went with. 5 watt 5 ohm wirewound ceramic resistor. It fits perfectly in position on the switch. The only thing that concerns me, and also the old man at the electronics repair center, is the age and wear and tear on the 50 year old motor. I paid 10 bucks for two resistors. After I knew it would work Karen ordered a 10 pack on Amazon for 9 bucks.
  11. A local electronics repair store.
  12. When I search other sites I find the question “ is tag painted “ and the answer is yes with no explanation. Don’t they realize black is paint also. Lol.
  13. I’m told black. I originally painted it blue to match. As I was mimicking your pictures ( because yours was painted). Now I’m not sure but I went safe with black.
  14. It’s nice to have the factory vin tag on it now. So much better than the one the state of California put on. Now the body shop has to fix my door jamb. That will wait till spring.
  15. Sorry upload failed on first attempt
  16. I just had my seats done on my 71 and I watched the guy pull them through the foam. But he used string on the buttons tied to a big needle, pushed them through and tied them off. Probably not “oe” correct but he said that they needed to be sucked into the seat. I think 71& 72 are the same.
  17. Since you are probably going to really tear that up removing it, you might just want to leave it in. You got the other one and it’s very nice. And like said they should both be the same. There may be one on top of the gas tank also.
  18. That’s excellent. Congrats.
  19. My rear defroster works on hi and not on low. Not being an electrical savant, I jumped the resistor and the low works. So I now have 3 defrost switches that don’t work because of bad resistors. My question is what do I use for a resistor. The picture shows the ceramic (?) resistor. I’m looking to buy 3 of them to fix all the switches. Thanks.
  20. Don’t be knocking us chevelle people. You do know that the Monte is the chevelles younger, and much more refined, brother right?? 😆 LOL
  21. So I got one of the first parts I started looking for when I bought the car today. MY VIN TAG. ( I also posted in another post so sorry about duplication). So tomorrow Two rivits popped in ( yes I have the correct ones) dash pad installed and I can get the glass put in. Whoo Hooo.
