200r4's and th350's both use a 27 spline output shaft.... And the 2004r is basically the same casing as a th350, excepting for the extra re enforcement at the tail shaft, which can cause contact issues depending on which yoke you use.
Montelishi already had an added aftermarket transmission cooler, so I just tied into that. But remember to change the fittings at the transmission. '86 will be metric thread and everything else is SAE. If you don't, you will get leaks.
Sorry, I meant they use a larger fuel line.. 5/8" as opposed to the 1/2", which lowers the pressure to about 5 psi.
Sunday morning after time change fog.... lol
If you look in the end of the yoke, you'll see that one spline is missing. You'll have to line this up with the wide spline on the transmission output shaft.
I've done this swap, and love the ease that it was, as well as the results.
One point of note.... Are you running a stock (or close to) engine, and did you have the transmission re built ?
I believe it connects to the TCS selenoid on Quadrajet carbs. (see bottom of pic.)
If you've gone to HEI ignition and an aftermarket carb, it's just a deleted wire.
Does the exhaust smell of raw fuel ?
When Montelishi arrived, I had a similar issue, which turned out to be the air/fuel mixture.
I wound up leaning out the jetting and backing out the air screws to correct the problem, after having replaced most of the vacuum lines and having no results.
The plugs were the next step.... And that helped as well.
Personally, I'd look for another carb... Depending on if you want to go stock.
I like the Edelbrock carbs, but they don't mix with factory pieces like Holley does. And an adapter can throw the linkage geometry out of wack.
