    Trigger

My 1970 I've had since 1987. This picture was taken shortly after getting it home from sitting in my brother's yard where I had to store it when I got transferred to Hawaii.
  3. Hmmm.. I've considered doing this too. I have 72 emblem that has fadded to almost clear and the one on my 70 emblem is missing... Was thinking I could get it out and paint it and swap it over... The Monte's been in the family over 28 years and never remember the red part being there on my 70.
  4. Not sure if it works but I seen a kit on "trucks" a few months ago that you can use to polish windshields and other glass with. On the show it looked like it worked pretty good. I think they said it was from Eastwoods. If you get it let me know how it works because I need to do all the glass for my monte.
  5. Thanks Tim. I think we talked about this before and I mentioned I have considered a twin turbo set-up with my TPI someday... This is some good ifo to get me started when I head down that path.
  6. It was years ago that I had mine on the track but it had a 400 sb .060 over with flat tops. 441 casting heads with 2.02/1.60's 1.5 roller tips, gasket matched to a Team G Street Ram single plane intake, a 750 Holley, Crower solid flat tappet cam .496/.502 lift 236/240 @ .050. Dual point Mallory mech advance dist. An almost stock stall converter. It was suppose to be a 2700 stall but it acted more like a stock one. Then the weakest part was my combo... A 2.73 single track rear. Still got it down the track for a best run of 13.999 @ 99 mph in 2nd gear at about 5400 rpm...
  7. Hate to say it since you already bought the new speedo but you can get a sender for a 700r4 from the earlier style 700's at a junk yard. Pretty sure they were in the early 90's caprices.
  8. Sad news, thoughts and prayers with the family. RIP Roybyn.

  10. Ever wonder what a large power plant control board looks like. Imagine having to sit here and monitor this for 12 hours a day...

Frame for my 70 after cleaning painting with POR-15 and all new bushings.
  13. OK thanks. might have to look over on one of thier boards to figure this out. Not really a big deal was just curious what it was.
  14. Ok, so I picked up a set of metal inner fender wells yesterday from a guy who said they came out of his '68 El Camino. Now my question. On the drivers side fender well there is what I think maybe an attachment stud for a Leveling Compressor. It has a round base that bolts to the fender well and then has about a 3/8" diameter shaft that is about 1.5 to 2" tall that has a recessed section toward the top. Never actually seen a stock leveling kit or the compressor in person on one of our cars so I am curious if this is part of that system. He did say he thought the Elkie orignally had air-shocks on it but I am pretty sure they'd been replaced by an after market set by now... Sorry I haven't had a chance to get a pic of it yet. If this is what it is, would it be worth putting up for sell? If so what would be a good price? Thanks, Steve
  15. It is worth that as a core deffinetly. I think in 85 is when they swapped to to 30 spline input shaft vice the 27 spline. The 30 spline is suppose to be stronger, but if you get the 27 spline and are going to get it rebuilt anyway they can up date it no problem. The 700R4 is 3 inches longer than a 350 Turbo. so you would have to shorten your drive shaft. I currently have a 27 spline 700R4 but don't have the correct torque converter for it. So to keep from having to get my drive shaft shortened even more (its a custom shaft from putting an Olds 3.73 posi 12 bolt in my Monte) I'm going to find me a 200-4r which is the same lenght as the 350 Turbo.(All three transmissions can use the same output yoke to my knowledge.) The 200-4r has more evenly spaced gearing and a slightly higher OD ratio (0.67 vice 0.70) if I'm not mistaken... The 200-4r's can also take some abuse, especially when properly prepped... Buick GN Turbo's came with them stock.
  16. Jim, was the BOP 12 Bolts simular in that it would require shortening of the drive shaft? I got a 12 bolt posi with 3.73's from a friend and when I put it in my Monte I had to get the drive shaft shortened... come to think of it I beleive it came out of his 72 Olds Cutless.
  17. I got my kit from NPD and I think it came with that bracket. I haven't installed it yet. They may sell it seperate.
  18. I never thought of using the soft side of velcro... I'll have to remember that when I get closer to getting it back together. Thanks
  19. Well It was worth a try. The one I was thinking of holds the window against the outer weather strip. Sounds like you've already tried all I can think of. BTW love the comments under your sig... Can I trade it in too?
  20. Sounds like it could be all the fuzzy is gone off the guide in the middle. Mine did this and now I have scratches going up and down my drivers window about half way back from the front.
  21. It's been a while but I went 13.99 @ 99mph in 2nd gear... @ 5800 rpm shifting @ 6K Was a sb 400 .060 over (Cracked the block) 441 casting heads W/ 2.02/1.60 SS Valves gasket matched to a Weind Street Ram intake. Crower Mech. Flat tappet cam .496/.502 236/240 @ .050 Flat top TRW pistons, on a balanced stock bottom end. Accel dual point stock stall, with a race prepped trans. 2.73:1 rear... Always wanted to take it back to the track after I got the 3500 stall and 3.73 Posi in it. But never got the chance... Thinking she may have got close to the high 12's... Now it's getting a 350, with TPI, a small Erson cam, a 200-4R or 700-R4 and Keeping the 3.73's can't wait to get it going again!
