  1. Thanks. I got the shifter mounted so I could build a console for it and fit between the bucket seats before the car went to paint & body. I've not as yet gone under to mount the bracket & connect the cable. I'll look at that connection when I get the car back. Can I just pull the column shift lever off, or do I have to go inside to release what ever latch is engaged when you pull the column lever back to shift into gear? Guess it may be more obvious when I can get under the car and start moving things from below. That sure would simplify safety start wiring if I can run it from the column switch.
  2. How did you do that? I'm installing a B&M megashifter in my '72. Is there room to leave the mechanical rod from the tranny to the column in place along with the cable?
  3. Yeah, that was something my metal guy shot as he was turning the car around. Car suffered the curse of the vinyl top, parked outside for some time. New roof, quarters (left side the get the sail panel), right wheelhouse, right trunk drop-down and filler deck. Old roof donated sheet metal for front fender and rear panel patches. Windows and trim fit perfectly! Car went to the paint shop Wednesday.
  4. Yes it does. Just put one from NPD on my '72. Needs some trimming at the sail panel connection. Roof5.mp4
  5. Chevelle roof is basically the same, just bought one from NPD for my '72. Good luck if you need the sail panels.....
  6. Thanks guys, I did connect with Scott on FB and got the info I wanted. Even though the handles themselves are available new reasonably, he recommends finding doors to get the inner panel mounting bracket.
  7. My '72 is about to go in for body & paint. Has anyone used Pontiac Grand Prix door handles? Other than fitting into the door skin, are there any mods necessary to the interior of the door to make the latch work?
  8. Somewhere along the line this section was repaired with metal, but they just cut a hole in the flat and screwed the marker kight on. Obviously the trim didn'tfit very well. This section is solid, aside from the F'd up hole. If I cant find a suitable piece, I'll end up getting a 'skin' and using the section I need.
  9. Does anyone have a damaged right rear quarter? I could use the lower section from the wheel well back, or at a minimum the recessed marker light section.
  10. Starting to strip the car for paint. How does the 'Monte Carlo' script emblem come off of the sail panel? I cant see or feel any push/speed nuts on the studs. Is it just a press fit through the vinyl top and panel?
  11. I've used Novus plastic polish for years on my motorcycle face shields and windscreens, works great! https://www.amazon.com/NOVUS-PK1-2-Plastic-Scratch-Remover-Bottles/dp/B002UD0GIG/ref=asc_df_B002UD0GIG/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312168126179&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11997765096847143644&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012392&hvtargid=pla-406644991415&psc=1
  12. Thanks Rob. 👍 I have to gut the interior for the roof repair. I think I'll pull the screws from the dash cap and take a look for it, maybe disconnect it my self, and leave it loose so they can slide it off if needed.
  13. My car is going in for vinyl top rust repair and paint soon. They are going to pull the windshield and rear window. Should I unplug the antenna coax from the radio, or is there another connection at the windshield itself?
  14. If/when you decide to tackle this yourself, take pics with your phone, and write a description of each step on paper. The pics will also help when you ask a more specific question here. There are Youtube videos that can help you as well, note that the same era Chevelle's are similar if not identical electrically and mechanically.
  15. This is the link: https://www.ebay.com/str/hitechclassics?_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2563
  16. I agree, the price difference of the felts isn't as drastic as the door seals, they were my main question as to the quality vs the function.
  17. Any comments on the function vs. quality of the 2 levels of door weatherstripping and windowfelts offered by The Parts Place. https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/part/1972/monte-carlo/weatherstripping-rubber-bumpers/door-weatherstripping1 https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/part/1972/monte-carlo/weatherstripping-rubber-bumpers/windowfelt-kit1
  18. Both, I haven't taken anything apart yet, trying to do the research first.
  19. What is the part # for these trim clips? Are they riveted on? Source? TIA!
