I can't fiqure this out. My 71 ss turbo 400 has a 11 drive teeth 44 speedo with stock 3.31 gears with the on line calulators don't add up. GM parts catalog list all 71 have 18 drive teeth?? Anybody know if you change gears to 3.73 with turbo 400 in stock 71 ss what the sppedo gear would be??? Thanks Bob

I got a correct green vinly top from CARS inc in Arizona Call 1-800-528-1342 & ask for Steve & he will call his supplier for you they cost $89 are are correct grain & seam spacing.I sure he could get you a Blue one?. I installed my own with help of a buddy, It was tough job but following factory service manual & taking time & proper prep it look's professional. My 71 manifolds had a small shallow drilled hole in them with a domed head small steel rivet tapped into manifold, Hope this is correct.

Thank's ED, I only had some bubbles around trim I think was caused by the vinyl top installer using a trim knife and damaged the paint. I stripped my whole car with stripper and that's the only rust. Got to love those Texas car's. I used por-15 then self etching primer, the 2k primer, then, then lacquer & clear-coat. All Dupont brand. All done except new top & re-install back window & trim. Please someone tell me what the distance on a 71 from the seam of the vinyl top to the chrome trim on the side of the car at the windshield & rear were the trim turns down the side of the car. Many Thank' Bob

The only way to tell for sure is their a code on the protecto-plate that tells which carb was on it from factory.

Yes the breather tube is a stock one, but the valve cover come in stock style & their pretty cheap also. Thank's bob

I felt the same, but mine has the chrome ones with the Tonawanda sticker & some, not me say it's a option because in some books they show a monte with chrome one's, but I have seen one's in book's with other incorrect part's, like silver or chrome air shock compressor & the book or owner state that the car their showing is a correct orginal car. I have Rhino liner 2 yrs in june & would never do without it, I never had any trouble of any kind. My insurance company said if in an accident,damage they would cover the cost to repair or replace. As far as welding etc you can just cut it out were you need too, It's tough but can be done. Later Bob
