  1. When the HEI distributor was installed did you run a new wire (12 gauge) to the distributor BAT connection from a 12 volt dedicated source like from the fuse panel, because if the HEI is being supplied power from the old resistance wire that was used on the points distributor you would have problems. 2. Just finished installing my rear sway bar, I boxed the original lower control arms and put new bushing in everything went in great and I didn't have to beat on it with a big hammer. Leo
  3. Here is what they look like when it's all installed. Leo
  4. Here is how I put my carpet in as you can't see any brackets or bolts as the carpet covers them. I just followed the instructions from this link. http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=236734 Also the carpet I purchased was for a console but I think it's used for with out console to as it overlaps in the trans hump unlike the bench seat carpet I took out. Leo
  5. i lucked out as I got all the wire harness stuff when I purchased it. I also put courtesy light in to. I left my original cluster in as I wanted the original miles showing I had the floor one but sold it. Leo
  6. Here's what I went by. http://macc.chevelles.net/buckets_install.pdf http://macc.chevelles.net/console_install.pdf Leo
  7. That looks great looks like the one I had in my 73 cutlass it was a comfortable seat. Nice job on them. Leo
  8. Hey Jared, I used a local trucking that ships between Ontario and my province twice a month and they had to go 1 1/2 hr away from their warehouse to get the parts for me so it was a great deal. They charge me $60 to bring my other set of buckets to me from the same place. cbolt you can add pictures by using the "More Reply Option" button on the reply post and you can attach files from there, it's on the bottom of the page. Leo
  9. I think you will have to change your carpet to as I noticed with mine the bench seat carpet don't overlap under the seat so you would have a gap with no carpet where your console would be. Leo
  10. The console was blue and I used SEM vinyl paint to change it. It's a little darker than the seat covers which are sandalwood color. The kick panels and headrest are the same SEM color as they were brown before. Leo
  11. Thanks Aaron, Looking forward to meeting more members and see the display of Monte's. I usually have my vacation around the Langley car show but decided to book early and take in this one since there was going to be lots of Monte's at it. Would love to have my car there but being 4500 miles of travel that's just a dream. Leo
  12. I"m not from the west but I will be on vacation in Kelowna at the same time so I am going to make it down there on Saturday, so what's the best time to attend the car show. Leo
  13. Hey Bill a pub crawl on George St would be a punishment for me the next day, I do cruise the area in the summer with the Monte.
  14. Thanks guys, the only thing I didn't do was add the buttons to the seats as the originals had just didn't want to put holes into the new seats. i also added new carpet which matched the old color on the bottom of the doors and added courtesy lights under the dash they came with the dash I bought. Leo
  15. I finally finished my conversion to buckets, console and tilt wheel. i purchased all the parts to do this last spring and been working on getting them ready for this switch. I think I did good on buying the parts. The first parts I got were a set of bad condition buckets, tilt steering column, console, shifter, harness and linkage also had to purchase a full dash with cluster and wiring harness. I paid $500 for all the parts and $300 to get it all shipped. When I got them home I sold the dash, harness and cluster for $250 and stripped the buckets and sold the headrest and seat tracks for $160 so I made $410 back on that lot. I then purchase another set of buckets for $150 and $60 to ship I got all these parts in Ontario Canada and had to shipped about 2000 miles to me. I then got new ACI seat foam and PUI seat upholstery painted the frame and had to vinyl paint the console, seat aprons and headrest as some were blue and brown. I have include pics with one of the bench seat. Leo
  16. I also attended a car show, the car didn't win anything but my name was drawn from the cars entered and I won an Alpine 250w amp and 10 inch subwoffer figure it to be worth $600 all I have to do now is sell it. Leo
  17. My 71 US model doesn't have one and it's original. Leo
  18. This might help. http://www.72malibu.chambersohana.com/reference/console_install.pdf Leo
  19. Changed the oil, tighten up the upper control arms, installed new exhaust tips and put on rear shock and new tires back on car. Also started it for the first time this year hope to get it out by next weekend and wash it. Leo
  20. Hey Arron, I put a new one in mine last year I couldn't get a sandalwood at the time so it's a saddle color but it matches the outside of the car and vinyl roof it looks alright even the one in mine didn't look like sandalwood. I'll think about getting one of you as I have to change the headliner in the fall so might be a good time to put in the right one. Speaking of having two I ordered mine and the first one was for a nova so they sent me another one. Leo
  21. That looks good Tony, I did my kick panels same as the door panels but I just got some SEM Phantom White and it seems to be a good match to the seats now as I have to do the head rest and all the plastic parts of the seats. Leo
  22. Thanks Tony that helps I will check it out. Here is pics of the car when I bought it, there are some interior photos of the carpet it looks like the one pictured in the above post. http://www.showdownauto.com/?vehicle=1971-chevrolet-monte-carlo Leo
  23. Thanks guys lots of good info and pictures to go by. My carpet is darker than the sandalwood so Tony if you find a color or a part number from your receipts it would be great. Looks like the console is darker than the seats and the same as the dash I will have to see if I can match that up as the console I have is blue and I have to paint it. Hoping to get all this together for the fall so I can switch it to buckets. Got a great deal on seats, console and steering column, waiting now to get it picked up and shipped from Ontario. Leo
  24. My Monte has a Sandalwood color interior what color should the carpet be, it is darker so would it be med saddle. I looked on the build sheet but it don't give the color. Another question what color is the center console is it darker than the seats and I guess the seat backs are sandalwood color. Anyone have any picture of a sandalwood bucket interior Monte. Thanks Leo
  25. I didn't use mine because I was worried that it might tear from the holes caused by the buttons. Did you check your rear seat bottom to see if it's the same as the original, mine wasn't but it worked. Your right the replacement buttons are not the same as the original. Leo
