  3. I'm assuming when you say "in the area where it shows the drives", you are talking about the BIOS? Power down, unplug the power cord, and then pull the drive and switch the jumper pin to "cable select"...
  4. You have to wonder about the folks that come up with these terms and acronyms in the IT world. We have Cookies, and then we have PING. Which stands for: "Packet Internet or Inter-Network Groper"

  12. Sorry if I am stating the obvious, but make sure things like whatever add on cards like the wireless and video card are seated, FIRMLY. I'm assuming you are running a SATA RAID and not using a SCSI card. But check your SATA cables, it doesn't take much for one of them to work loose. Your symptoms sound strangely like a brand new Dell 2950 server I wrestled with for quite some time trying to figure out it's mysterious crashes. One of the PCI risers was loose, and with just enough vibration, i.e. some one closing a rack door ..it would break connection and the server would crash. Just a thought.
  13. When dealing with a "tuner" one must always make sure you do things in a clear and concise manner Tim, otherwise they tend to get a little confused.. J/K~~!!
  14. Thought I'd share this with you all, I worked with this gentleman over here in Kuwait, he was a fellow systems admin, and is a really top notch person...He's always had a flair for putting his own touch on a project when I worked with him, although we work on different tasks these days, Miguel remains a close friend. We had a running rivalry about cars, when he's home, he drives a tweaked out Honda Accord...I used to leave messages on his white board behind his desk like "Miguel, There are NO substitutes for Cubic Inches" Check out his sculptures made out of old Hard drives and server parts: Robot: Fat Boy Harley, Nice touch with the Dog tags to honor the troops here in the AOR: http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2009/12/hddbike1.jpg HDD Car: This made such a hit here in the AOR, that the Ariforce did a write up on them and someone else wrote in to Wired Magazine about them, and they actually did an article on Miguel Links: Air Force Article Wired Blog article
