  1. Robert, The Page loaded right up, so half of your battle is won if you have your friends server acting as web host, he already has IIS up and running. You mentioned using MS Publisher, assuming you have the needed permissions on your friends server, it *should* only be a matter of creating the website in Publisher, then publishing it on the server itself. You can create the site at home and simply upload it to his server via the internet. That way all the core files to the site are in two locations one on your computer and one on the hosting server. Since it appears that you've already coded a fair amount of HTML I would use the "HTML CODE FRAGMENT" feature and cut and past the html from your word pad, over to whatever Publisher Template you choose to use. Once that is done, tweak as you need to, add your links you want, publish to your friends server and you should be done. Now... if you want to host the website from your home....that's where you will need IIS and you can install that via vista by doing the following steps Click : Start > control panel > programs and features From the Programs and Features window click "Turn Windows Features on or off then select "Internet Information services" *Note here* I'm testing this as I type, and so far, Vista at least ultimate seems to have all the files it needs already, I'm not sure about other versions of Vista you may need your original Vista OS CD for certain ISS functionality to be installed. Also the link you gave is a numerical IP which is fine it works (so the rest of this is just geek speek for now unless you're really going to start working with websites),BUT, it doesn't appear as if that server it is on is running any DNS (Domaine Name services) therefore your website can't be "named" on the web, in other words we cant go to something like www.robertswebsite.com, because the IP isn't registered in the WWW DNS as such, it's not a big deal I don't think for a class project, but if you are going to run a website full time, you'll probably want to use DNS. To avoid a lot of complex issues, probably 95% of the web sites out there use a hosting service that will provide you with a Domain Naming service, and server space. I use Hosting Matters out of Jacksonville FL for my 454monte.com blog, but there are thousands of them out there to choose from. Then all the DNS and IP and all that stuff...well it's someone else's headache and you can just concentrate on your site... LOL. Hope this helps.
  2. I'm Not quite sure what you are asking Robert. Does the web page have to be published on the Internet? Or do you need to just provide the associated local website files from your computer on a disk? I am at work at the moment and on an XP based box, but I have vista at home but have never did anything with my webs on Vista itself, but I can probably look at it and get back to you if no-one else chimes in.
  3. Okay, curiosity kills the cat...I played around with this on my home PC, with Vista and IE 8 Found out if you reset IE 8 to the defaults it will stop doing that. I am [you said a naughty!]-U-MEing that the same would hold true if you are using IE 7 To do this on IE 8 : Open Internet Exploder, (er I mean explorer) Click on Tools Click on Internet Options Click the advanced tab Click "reset" It will warn you with a pop up that all sorts of bad things are going to happen if you do this, click YES CAUTION!! doing this wipes out any cookies or saved usernames and passwords you may have in IE!! I take no responsibility if you have to do 2 dozen password resets via E-mail...You have been warned..LOL. You can then use the full screen function in your replies.
  4. Ian, Allan, Andreas, not sure if this will be of any significance, I too have seen this, but only experienced this oddity with my PC at work running XPsp3 / IE 7 My home box with Vista and Firefox doesn't do it...
  5. *Update* I've got the true owners E-mail now, and I am waiting on his reply. It will be interesting to see what he has to say, I am trying to get him to come here and join the forums....
  6. Thanks Dave, guess we'll see what the true owner has to claim if he contacts me.
  7. Thanks Rob, I will keep looking into it...I'm hoping the owner will contact me, interesting car if it does turn out to be legit.
  8. Has anyone ever heard of a Yenko prepped Monte Carlo 454 SS? I was contacted via my 454Monte Blog by a poster that claims to know of one of these cars. He seems legit and has sent me three pictures of the car, but he is not the owner of the car, so I am a little hesitant to share them at this point. I will say this, in one of the pictures in place of the Monte Carlo Script on the sail panel, is a clearly visible "Yenko" Badge. The car is Red with color keyed Rally Sport Rims. Supposedly (this is only form the poster himself I haven't been able to verify his claims there were 4 such cars done by the Yenko family...) I've asked that he put me in touch with the owner via E-mail so I can ask him about the history of the car, what mods were done to it and get his permission to share the photos. Just curious as to if any one here has ever heard of a Yenko prepped 454 SS 1st Gen...
  9. Not picking one product over the other here, but If you are running or have plans to run an electric water pump, I'd call Billet to make sure they make a kit for this sort of application. I ended up using March, as they have a pulley kit specifically designed for the BBC and electric water pumps....mine isn't in yet, so I can't comment on the performance or fit and finish of the March set up right now, although it does look awful purty in it's boxes.. DOH!
  10. Welcome! Nice looking car!
  11. Three thumbs up!! Er wait I only have two...Two Thumbs and an Index finger up!! Great looking ride & welcome to the club!!
  12. You could call Currie they have a ready to bolt in Ford 9 inch complete with Disc Brakes... Currie Website
  13. Cool stuff, it's neat to see how the Monte's progressed over the years.
  14. Excellent article Allan, great information.
  15. Nice upgrade Ian, thanks for the pics.
  16. I converted the OEM 12 bolt in mine from a 2.73:1 to an Eaton Posi 3.73:1, makes a huge difference in how the car launches, one of the best upgrades so far. You can buy the complete carrier and install kit directly from Summit.

    Vista Q

Mmm....Nope but like any governmental entity they go with what people sell them, I really sometimes shake my head at some of the stuff they buy off on.

    Vista Q

Putty also plays nice for domains running Cisco Works and Cisco ACS apps.. just me 2 cents. As far as Vista? I have Ultimate on my laptop; at best I am noncommittal at worst it sits next to my XP box and makes an extremely good paperweight, (those dell 17 inch XPS boxes are HEAVY.) We're bracing for shock over here, the USAF is rolling Vista Business out soon. *sigh*
  19. Allan, The Rag joint and shaft that fits inside of it just will not go back together, I've even stripped it to bare metal and no go, it has to be in one way or the other and neither way wants to go... Right now I'm to the point I've wasted so much time just trying to get the steering back together I'm considering a flaming river set up. I'm running out of time and I can't have the car where it can't be moved for 6 months. As far as the wiring, it's going to probably wind up in a shop, it looks pretty bad under there, there's splices and cuts, dead ends, etc just about everywhere. I'm surprised anything inside of the car is still working to be honest...Oh happy day.
  20. This is getting worse by the second here, finding a ton of cut wires and splices, and running into headaches getting the coupler joint to go onto the column ...is there a difference in the number of splines on these columns? Also has anyone ever had one of these steering shaft assemblies apart? I'm not able to get the shaft back into the rag joint section it simply will not go back in, I'm thinking about heating the rag joint section with a torch to get it to expand enough to put the two shafts back together...Bad idea ?
  21. Hey folks! Still trying to fight the cold & rain and finish up this column and floor shifter project. Does any one know the wire colors on the harness that connects to the steering wheel for the following: Neutral safety switch Back up lights. Also my switch panel I am installing, has a toggle that can be used to control the ignition and a push to start button, I was considering just by passing the OEM Neutral safety switch and wire the new B&M shifter's NSS directly to the starter via the switch panel? It would serve the same purpose would it not? Doing this would mean the ignition key would only be used in the column to unlock the column more or less, and I wouldn't be using a key to start the car any longer...what do you think?
  22. Thanks Allan. I'll give it a shot I suppose. Lets hope the weather cooperates...
  23. Okay, so I picked out a shifter. Maybe. I'm torn. I want to ask a question and feel free to let er rip. I want to do this myself, I am handy with a car for most part, been around them enough years, worked on enough of them that I'm certainly not afraid of working on one. This is part of the project I want to do. Myself. 90% of my work gets farmed out to my mechanic, as I have no garage. To me something like this keeps me in touch with my car, it gives me a sense of having made my mark on it, I guess that is silly, but to me, it certainly sucks to be farming out almost every aspect of this to others. We'll not mention the cost in labor as well, that could be very well used elsewhere. Labor for the Gears and my latest ignition upgrade and a few minor things on the transmission...700.00. So here's the deal, If I did this myself the best I could possibly hope for is a set of Ramps and maybe some rubber foam mating under the car to try to keep the sharp gravel from digging into my hide. It's in the 50's up where I live, long range forecast while I am home says that and lower. I'm under no illusion this will be a one day project. Would you tackle something like installing a floor shifter in this car if you were in my shoes?
  24. Cable management...it's a PITA ...I think I am going to get some of the OEM ribbed sleeves for mine and clean it up some once I get home. Back on topic, I am going to hold on the floor shift for now. I still have some work to do on the rear suspension and control arms so I will wrap that up first. I'm real anxious to see what the new gears do for me
  25. I'm a Little off the topic here, but here are the pictures I promised of the ignition upgrades...
