  1. I think that you should be really proud of you times. My brother had a mild looking ,mid 11 second, small block Chevy II.We used to get a kick out of looking at all the race cars that were at the track that were slower than his car. There are a lot of guyes out there that would love to run those times with a streetable small block car incuding me.
  2. My 12 bolt also had 2.73 gears.
  3. I think that Crazy Davey has a really good shot at getting in the show. I think that they like to pick well done cars that are fast enought to pull the front wheels. Also the times that he is running seem to be a ET class that they pick often. Good luck Davey and Red.
  4. Yeah, I bet your right, and that it was done to make it easier to get the bolt in. I e mailed Moroso's tech line to see if I can get some replacement parts from them. I was reading on another message board and a guy said on there "be carefull not to turn the differential while the pinion cross shaft is out because you will get the gears out of alignment. You must make sure that the thrust washers don't come out from behind the spider gears. This is a very common problem and can damage the differential case if unnoticed" now I'm starting to get a little worried about this. I don't think that I turned it anymore than I needed to to get to the c-clips.
  5. I’m working on my 12 bolt rear end for the first time. About 8-10 years ago I had a guy that owns a local shop install a Moroso Brute Strength posi unit that I bought used and 4.10 gears in my car. Now I’m changing the axles and when I took it apart I found that someone has ground down the bolt that holds the pin that goes between the axles. It looks like someone ground it with a bench grinder making the diameter smaller and the end has an angle on it. Does anyone know why someone would grind it? Also, the pin itself has a chip out of it around the hole.

    12 bolt yoke

Can you change the yoke on a 12 bolt rear end with out changing the current gear set up? I mean the shimming and meshing involved in the inital set up of the gear set.
  7. You probably shouldn't add up how much you've spent on parts lately it would be more depressing than all the breakage.
  8. Man, you have got to have the worst luck. Hopefully it's something minor.
  9. Thanks for all the great pictures and the write-up!!!!
  10. Thanks for the great posts. I'm getting ready to change my axles and have never done any work like this before so the timing couldn't be any better.
  11. That looks just plain mean. With the amount of room that our cars have in front of the engine it's like they are made for super or turbo charging. Why waste all that space?
  12. I would check the the rear float adjustment first as it's easy and free. Then maybe check the timing with a light to make sure that it's advancing when the RPMs are going up and also what your total timing is. I guess after that I'd look at the secondaries on the carb to see if maybe they are sticking sometimes and not opening up till you have a bunch of air flow.Stock I think that a Holly comes with a fairly stiff spring in the secondary so I'm not sure that they would be opening too soon or result in that long of a bog if it did.
  13. Wow, I guess that this is the first time that I saw a picture of your car since you got it painted, very nice!!! Also,Air is gooooooood.
  14. Wow, Great Job David. If your worried about breaking parts with all that power that you now have I would be willing to trade engines with you so that you don't have to stress about it....Just trying to help out.
  15. Thanks for the responses. I ordered a Strange catolog yesterday. I might have gone a little overboard thinking that I needed the race axles. It looks like the stock axles or the c-clip replacement axles with some kind of c-clip eliminators would work for my car. I'll use the money that I'll save to get a stronger driveshaft and u-joints after seeing what happens when one of those breaks.
  16. Wow, I wish my cam had even close to those lift numbers. I guess that you won't be able to complain about how slow your car is anymore.
  17. I want to beef up my axles in my stock 12 bolt (stock except for Moroso posi unit and 4.10 gears) but I’m not sure what direction to go. I was thinking about going with Moser axles and c-clip eliminators but the Moser site says that they don’t recommend them for street use due to the aluminum flexing and developing leaks. I know that you can get the ford housing ends and get them welded on to the Chevy housing but that’s not really something that I can do myself. What have you guys done with your cars? I just don’t want to break an axle and tear up my car in the process.
  18. Wow David, That roller cam sounds good. All that lift with out all the duration that you get with a normal big cam. This engine is going sound great with that 3" exhaust.
  19. Love that camera angle. Just look out for flying driveshafts!!!
  20. Crazy D , I was just saying it's hard to belive that your that close to the 9's. In the past my brother had a 10 second small tire car that was street legal. At the track we got a kick out of seeing how many all out big tire race cars that were slower than his car. Tommy
  21. Wow Davey, You just keep getting faster. Your only about a half second from having a 9 second car. Cool!!!! Tommy
  22. Wow Mike, You got a whole car for Christmas!!!! Welcome, and your wife sounds like a keeper. Tom
  23. Did anyone get any go fast stuff for Christmas? I got a NOS purge kit from my wife and a Jeg’s gift certificate from my brother.
