  1. Hang on even better yet use the plug with 6 inches of wire from Shawn and then leave that part plugged into the dash all the time and splice those wires into the console female plug and then there is your plug n play end with the other simple switch is the male end of the console harness to the male cluster harness end that way there is no soldering at all on the printed circut.. Darren.
  2. Hey Rob, ok i am following so far... And thinking more on this and other gm's from our era they all used the spring contact to go against the printed circut board in camaro chevelle monte nova etc... The other trick could be if you were handy dandy at electrical would be to splice in color coded wires to the printed circut board and then have them go into a plastic female plug from let say our automatic console wiring harnesses and the convert the factory male plug over to the male plug off of the console harness as well then you have both male and female plugs in GM plugs but not the one you are hopeing to create... Just a thought that way you have plug n play but at a skillfull challenge.. Just a thought as I cant think as to where else that factory plug off the cluster would have a match anywhere else on our cars or one of its cousins.. Darren.
  3. Hey Rob, did you not get a plug from Shawn with wires in it or just the plug.?? Darren.

    Tire Fitment ?

Hey David, Trying to follow..?? were you looking for something a little wider and posibly shorter than the 275.??? If so with the backspaceing you have on the rims and the space you have on the inner and outer wheel wells a 295-50-15 is 26.8" tall rather than 28.0" as the 275 is and the 275-60-15 shows a section width of 11.0" and a 295 is showing 12.2. split the extra inch by the offset and that should leave you almost 1/2" left on inner and outers. the 295-55-15 you were mentioning is 27.6 " tall so not much lower than the 28. to start with but that 295-50-15 is lower and might be enough if thats what you were meening in your post..I also believe If memory serves me right Royce has those rims and offset as well on his gold 70 and might agree or set you straight....??? I had BFG 295-50-15 T/A's on my 72 monte that had a 5.5 backspace and no rubbing if that helps.... Darren
  5. Hey Larry, Doug is correct i was wrong. DOH..!! Grabbed the wrong book, i grabbed the Oldsmobile book. Its funny when you look in the Chev book and then GMC book and then Pontiac books they all list b93 as door edge moldings yet B94 in the chev book under Monte its is the ornimation option in 71 but the GMC book in 71 shows its a GMC Sprint tailgate emblem and in the el-camino section the B94 is for the elky bowtie emblem on the tailgate too and under chevele it shows no such RPO but oldsmobile has it as wheel well moldings.. Really goofy same RPO code but 5 different divisions using it for something else except B93 they all agree upon...lol It also says under Monte that a B85 is the Belt Reveal Moldings. Another cool option... Sorry for confusion. Darren.
  6. Hey Larry, B94 is Front Wheel well Chrome... B95 is Rear Wheel well Chrome and B93 is Door edge Guards (Chrome Strip) Got any other numbers I have a book full of codes.. Darren PS, I got your PM's just going through a ruff spurt with Meds
  7. This is all I got for now hope it helps... Darren. The rear axle identification code consists of at least a two letter prefix indicating the gear ratio, a letter for the manufacturer's identity, and three digits indicating the day of the year from January 1 and other codes as necessary. The identification code should be stamped on the bottom or font of right axle tube either adjacent to the carrier housing or about 8" - 10" inboard from the backing plates. The particular engine RPO code is listed in parentheses as found on buildsheets. Example: RUC064(1 or 2) decodes to RU ~ 3.31:1, C ~ Buffalo, 064 ~ day of year starting with January 1 (the 64th day being March 5), 1 or 2 ~ shift (if present). See bottom of page for photo examples. Casting Numbers: 12-Bolt Casting #3969278 10-Bolt Casting #3969277 The casting numbers/letters on rear end housings may have either a prefix or suffix of "N" or "NF" and no reason has been found yet why they may have one or the other. Gear Ratio - First & second characters Prefix Axle Ratio CF 3.31:1 ~ 12-bolt Positraction CH 2.73:1 ~ 12-bolt Positraction (L48/350-4, LS3/330-4)* CW 3.31:1 ~ 12-bolt (L48/350-4)* GA 2.56:1 ~ 10-bolt (L65/350-2)* GB 2.56:1 ~ Positraction GD 2.73:1 ~ Positraction GF 3.08:1 ~ 10-bolt GG 3.36:1 ~ 10-bolt (base L6)* GH 2.73:1 ~ 10-bolt (L14/307)* GI 3.36:1 ~ Positraction GN 3.08:1 ~ 10-bolt (L14/307)* KD 2.73:1 ~ 12-bolt (L48/350-4)* RU 3.31:1 ~ 12-bolt (LS5/454)* RV 3.31:1 ~ 12-bolt Positraction (LS5/454)* RW 4.10:1 ~ 12-bolt Positraction(LS5/454)* Rear Axle Assembly Plant - Third character Code Assembly Plant C Buffalo, N.Y. Do NOT consume beers until after the dash is out..it dont work the other way and gets lots of broken peices....lol. Darren.
  9. Hey Jeff, Here is my contribution as well... Nice picture Dennis, I hope that some of these might help and in no particular order and sorry for so many. I think the main front on view that I post at the top will help the most maybe, and darn I didnt right down measurements at all.grrrrrrrr. All I can say is my car had the console brackets already welded in the car on the floor so I took the hump thru it on the floor and then placed the console down over top and lined it up with the mounting holes and let the console top plate on loose and slide the now loose floor mount hump until I could look down the console plate openeing and it looked square in the middle top to bottom and side to side then moved the console off carefully and marked the hump on the pan and away I went.....You can see my after pics that it was bang on plus one other Tan chevelle picture too boot so you can see that as well... Darren.
  10. Hey Guys, I started a new thread posting under our New Products section on the marker that lots have asked about.... Darren.
  11. The plates were actually a gift from a guy on Ebay that I bought a lot of chevelle parts from in Michigan, One day in the mailbox was this Pair of Non used uncirculated plates still in the Prison paper wrapping from this Ebayer saying thanks for all the business enjoy the plates...I put them on at first but always was wanting to find the right as close to original and matching plates I could find for the chevelle, and bingo on Ebay I found them as close as I am ever going to get for the correct ones. So here are some pics of the right plates...Yes still USA plates but justified, here's so.. The chevelle was made at the Lakewood GM Plant in Fulton County in Atlanta Georgia and was custom ordered so the plates I found are as follows and you can see. 1-- stands for Fulton County in Atlanta Georgia. J-- is for the weight classification on the chevelle. 64185-- is the sequince number (and important part). with me being such an OEM Freak. Yes I know Rod & Vaughn Just the Freak part suits me better....lol. my last 5 VIN number digits from Atlanta are 64137 so 64185 is the closest after 40 years of finding the matching licience plates I am ever going to get...So the Michigan plates are now gone and also for sale.!!!! and the Georgia plates are rightfully so displayed on it now.... Yes I guess I am a OEM Freak..... Darren.
  12. Hey Bob, I have to agree with Aaron the factory black is better in my opinion then the color of the car on the firewall and mine was a Semi-Flat and Semi Gloss on other parts to offset a little. sorry for the lighting change the bulds blew in the garage and I went with a bright white rather than soft white bulb after.. Darren.
  13. Mike was right the Detent Cable can be adjusted somewhat as it has a horseshoe clip that slides down from the top and locks in the cable length. 2nd note on Quad carbs they bolted down that bracket where the coill mounted to using the same hole and some were mounted on an Ear Tab bracket off of the drivers side rear of the carb which is the same on most to all Holly carbs but the braket was different in shape. I have all 3 diff brakets at home but am still stuck in hospital here. Can send pictures later but dont know when I am getting out.. Hope this helps..? Darren.
  14. Yes there is 2 types. Most 10 bolts were 9" brake pad and drum set ups and 12 bolt were all 11" set ups. Most parts places may ask you this question is it 9 inch pads or 11 inch ones, thats what they are meaning, plus as rare as it is and if you are an OEM Freak like me you can still find true aluminum drums out there.. Darren. Yes dont go with pontiac ones they are a larger exterior diameter and look way different of a finish then ours, try to find Finned drums rather than smooth Bowl style as the Finned ones help cool the brakes when being applied and to dicipitate the heat more even.
  15. The year makes a difference.. 1970 as we most know had a lot of one off's so as mark has indicated there is one in all 70's behind the battery attaching to the Distribution block which is black and is 1-1/4 inches in square, some early 71 cars had this as well but later 71 cars didnt as they got rid of that block and had a relay now up on the firewall above the power brake booster when thay added Fasten Seatbelt light Mid year in 71. Anyways there can be but not on all cars as indicated to be one hidden in the wiring loom or tin sleeve in the wireing harness just above the starter 4 inches away and also as Rod has mentioned by the Horn Relay behind drivers side headlight on a 70 on the firewall. The other item that can stop power is the Tiniest fuse we all have in our inside fuse block by the break pedal is at the Bottom of the block in the middle and is as mentioned the smallest fuse of all and may appear to be fine but can still be blown inside the stainless cap area you cant see.. That little sucker can cause big headaches... Darren.

    Stolen SS 454

Yep anything is possible Larry/Ed my 1970 Chevelle SS Cortez Silver with black vinyl top car disappeared in 1987 from my driveway and did surface in Vancouver BC via a Team Chevelle member seeing it but then lost sight before anything could be done and then it was seen in Spokane USA.?? so somehow it got across the border and also disappeared. Strange thing is I still have the keys for it some 25 years later and thats the only set that I knew of. I am sure it got parted out Stateside possibly. Still hopeing some day somewhere..... ya right... Darren.
  18. Last cruise of the year with Roy,Vaughn,Keith, and Pat & Liam
  19. Hey Joe, I ended up picking one of those up at Napa and it has the Metal mount and has been working just fine in the 72 Monte for almost a year now, if that helps... Darren.
  20. Hey Rob, I think you will find the 1970 El-Camino uses the same front bumper as the 70 Monte and therefore the same lights you seek.... Darren.
  21. There is something about that color I like...hmmm cant quite put my finger on it though..... Oh hang on.. the light just came on, I know why I like it..... No it's gone again.... anyways LOVE the color... Darren.
  22. I would say Jim you have a lot of suggestions, and as always start with the cheapest and go from there. My guess is the cheapest would be that U joint by the diff.. Darren.
  23. Hey Jim , another stab in the dark here... How about a bad rear U-joint at the diff end of the driveshaft.???? Darren.
