  1. Dan/Jake, I have been away from the computer for the last week (I went down to Nashville to do the shooting for TV Show Muscle Car, ( I will talk about this a different posting)so I am sorry that I have not gotten back to you sooner. I will get the documents scanned in and get them e-mailed off to you today. Dan, please go post this on the site, as I am not sure how to do this. I must say that you have done a good job in making your own filter, it really looks good. I will let you know the next time we come up to Quincy and I will bring the filter by for you to see. Jim
  2. Dan, I do have some infomration on the load leveling system that I got from a Chilton's manual (it shows a pictorial assembly diagram of the entire air reservior tank). I also have a dcoument that explains how the entire system fuctions. As for the air filter, I have a NOS filter in the bag similar to the one that you posted the pictures of. If you want, one of the times when I go to Quincy to see my Mom, I can meet with you to show you the filter. As for the documents, I can scan them in and e-mail them to you if you want. If you have additonal documentation on the syem, I would like to add more to my information collection. Take care. Jim

  5. Steve, I am guessing the 70 Monte Carlo SS that you saw at the Monte Carlo Nationals with the added on cruise control was my car (it is forest green with no vinyl top). As everyone has stated, you could not get cruise control on the car from the factory, but in the case of my car the original owner wanted it so he had it added after he got the car (actually I believe that he told me it was about a year later). It is a fairly tight fit, but I can tell you it is nice to have when you drive on the highway (it was great to use when I drove mine to the Monte Carlo Nationals in Nashville a few years ago). If anyone would like to see a picture of it, let me know and I can send it to you (or if someone can tell me how to add it to a posting I will give it a shot). Thanks. Jim
  6. My car is in all original 1970 Monte Forest Green (dark green color) and it does have the semi black paint along the bottom (car was built Sept '69 at the Van Nuys plant). I bought the car from the original owner in 1987 after it had been sitting for 10 years in storage up on blocks. Looks like it might depend on where the car was built.
  7. I believe that the Aluminum head engine was actually called a LS-7. The LS-7 took the LS-6 engine and added aluminum heads (and possible a different cam but I am not sure of that). From what I heard, this was an over the counter option that could be added to the LS-6 engine. It was not released in any actual cars. I am curious, where did you find the book to decode the protecto plates? That sounds like a slick tool to have.

    Exhaust System

I am curious, how much do they charge for the complete exhaust system? Is there any guarantee on the mufflers/resonators?
  9. In 1970 the steering wheel and columns were colored to match the interior of the car, except for the SS454 cars. They all got black steering wheels and columns no matter what the interior color was. I don't know what they did in 1971. I thought that I remember reading somewhere that the steering wheels in 1972 were all black (including the steering column), but I don't know that it is a fact. Hopefully this helps.
  10. This year it is in Nashville June 21-23rd. I hope to make it, and if I see any will check into buying them for you if you want.
