  1. Thanks Jared and that totally makes sense. I think what you call pixels some people also call orange peel? I do still have some cutting and buffing left to do but it is quite presentable as it is. I'll wait until Spring/Summer of 2022 to finish it off. It does take many hours and lots of patience to get the mirror finish on a dark colour car for sure. I'm not looking for perfection but I'll get it as nice as I can. Near corners and edges I do still have some pixels as we're being extra careful in those areas to not cut through the clear.
  2. Sold my motorcycle about 6 years ago as I just wasn't riding as often due to being in this hobby
  3. Thanks Guys. I looked for the original floor mats this weekend and could only find the rears. I do have some reproduction mats and may use those. Looking forward to driving the old girl again!
  4. So...just have a short list of small things to do next week. Then we do a full cleaning and detailing of the car. I have a new ACC trunk mat to install and I have original black floor mats that are still in good condition. It's a pretty time of year here in Ontario so soon I'll take some Fall photos of her, drive her a few times before Nov 1 and store it until next year.
  5. Just googled it and the GM NOS ones that were second design apparently were not riveted according to some posts on the Chevelle site I read.
  6. I'm not sure why Dennis. They were still sealed in the original GM wrappers. I'll take a closer look next time I'm working on the car early next week.
  7. Update.....last night we trimmed the carpet at the sill plate area, installed the sill plates and the rest of the seat belts. One slip with the utilty knife and I now have an ouchie! LOL Getting close to the finish line except like others have said "they're never truly finished"
  8. Hi Steve and thank you. I'm not sure about the long trek to Carlisle but I would love to see a Michigan meet some day.
  9. Thank you Dennis....I plan on an alignment in early October and driving her several times in October
  10. Update....all the seats, console, kick plates and seat belts are installed as well as the dimmer switch. I really took my time installing the carpet as I didn't want to make any wrong cuts etc. Next is to trim along the sills and install the NOS sill plates. She's a dusty old girl right now but I'll be doing a complete detail when everything is done.
  11. Hi Rob, I can't make this one but I'll gladly send you something for the next one if you would like.
  12. Hmmm....mine gave me similar issues several years ago and I had to chase it for a while...new battery, starter etc. Finally replacing the external voltage regulator fixed the problem for me.
  13. Hi Jared, I checked my photo dates.....it sat for a week before we started the cut and buff....final clear was sprayed June 23rd and cut and buff began June 30. It has five coats of a high quality clear on it.
  14. Looking good Carl. You must be excited for her arrival at your new place.
  15. Carpet install began last night and will continue tonight. An awl works well for locating holes and a straight soldering iron is perfect for making holes. It melts a nice round hole and cauterizes the edge so it won't frey etc. It is also fast and easy.
  16. Nice Monte and nice stance! 😎
  17. Yes....was just told recently of this little trick. It supposedly cauterizes the edge of the hole so you get a nice round hole that won't frey. It is the straight soldering iron you use and not the soldering gun type.
  18. Finished cutting and buffing tonight. Then we installed the panel and insulation behind the rear seat and installed the rear seat back. Next will be installation of ACC carpet with mass backing. We have an awl and soldering iron ready for the install of the carpet.
  19. We installed the exhaust hangers and tips recently as well
  20. Back to cutting and buffing now which should be done by the weekend. Then installing new ACC carpet and putting the console and seats back in next week.
  21. All 12 pieces of lower trim now installed. All 12 are NOS and purchased years ago just for this occasion. Next, we will finish up the cut and buff and then move on to installing the new ACC carpet, trunk divider, chrome exhaust tips and reinstalling the console and seats.
