Guest
I'm replacing the battery tray in a 1970 Monte. It looks like there may have been a metal bractet that attached to the underside of the tray and then to the inner fender. Or is it supposed to be all one piece? Mine is so far gone I can't tell. By the looks of the pictures of battery trays from various catalogs it appears I may now be missing a bracket. Thanks, Allen
MC-71
Yes you are missing the bracket. If your wheel housing has a big hole in it where the bracket should go you have a problem. The bracket looks like an angle with one end closed. One bolt goes to the bottom of the tray and two bolts go to the plastic housing. I might be able to make one for you. I'm the TIN MAN on the list. Rob Peters
Listen to our "TIN MAN" offering help to another member. You know the TIN MAN in the "WIZZARD OF OZ" didn't have a heart but I would have to say our "TIN MAN" has one that is huge.... Thanks Carl for everything you do, you are great. Guest
Hey Tin Man: I'm the one with the free 71 and it had a rust free battery tray bracket under the rusted out tray. I was wondering if I should send it to you so that you could duplicate it (bolts included). My battery is in the trunk, so I don't need it. ------------------ George Lines
MC-71
Thanks for the offer George, I just happen to have a NOS still in the box. Dave I guess you would need 3 of them. I can't promise them right of way but I'll try my best. I'm retired but I do a lot of heating and AC jobs on my own. Planning to take July and August off to catch up on my own projects. Also thanks to Rob for those kind words.
Guest
Carl, Thank you for the generous offer. I'm not much of a metal fabricator (yet!). If I can't order one then I'll be calling you. Sincerely, Allen
DaveC
No big rush on my end Carl. I'm going to be selling my house in 2 months as well as building a new one, needless to say, I won't have too much time for the cars. Keep me in mind though, I will want them when you get around to making them. Thanks, Dave
Andreas
Dave, my old bracket was useless with the new steel inner fenders (won't fit). If I find it in my garage, you can have it for the shipping cost... What about that? ------------------ 71 Monte 383 "The Full Monte" 86 Monte LS ZZ4 "The Gray Mouse" FOR SALE! MC-71
I guess Chevelles don't use that battery support. Is that correct or did you just elimate yours. Our did it not fit because of the steel wheel housings. Get back to me on that. I was hoping to corner the market on these babys. By the way the one OPG sells is garbage. Mine will be made in the good USA.
DaveC
I think you are correct Carl....Chevelles did not use these. ------------------ Dave C. 70 402 4spd Monte Carlo 71 SS 454 Monte Carlo 72 350 Monte Carlo 69 427 Corvette roadster 86 Grand National 96 Impala SS
Andreas
They are a Monte Only deal. The steel inner fenders have enough beef to support to battery tray compared to the flimsy plastic junk. Also, the steel inners are a bit wider than the plastic and the bracket will not fit right... ------------------ 71 Monte 383 "The Full Monte" 86 Monte LS ZZ4 "The Gray Mouse" FOR SALE!
