G71
In the process of reviving my 71 350 The fuel sending unit is erratic, I know the tank is near empty but sometimes the gauge pins past full. Is this indicative of a gauge or sender issue? I am considering replacing the tank anyway as its been near empty and has been sitting for years Thanks
cny first gen 71
Check your ground first but may not be a bad idea to at least clean the tank out if its been sitting, replace if nessessary
72-CLASSIC_RIDE
Could be your Sending Unit also. Assuming the Sending Unit is original to car, the contacts that measure resistance when float assembly moves up/down shaft with fuel level can attract corrosion over time loosing contact and or sticking in place. My situation is I believe what I just explained. If left stored during Winter Months, gas gauge is erratic until I have driven sufficiently or if I (from a dead stop) take off fast and then brake somewhat hard. This seems to dislodge and fuel gauge is good again. Each year I repeat as needed. So far haven't had the need to replace Sending Unit. Just a thought to also consider................
