72-CLASSIC_RIDE
Hey all, Put in my LED Tail Lights & want to replace tail light hardware screws with a complete new set. Any ideas where I might find them? Done some searches but as yet, no joy! I would consider used if screws are in excellent condition (7) per side & were these originally Stainless?. Were these specific to our Montes or should I look at other GM vehicles also? Doug
yorkies
just a thought, you might try a marine or boat dealer, they should have a good supply of stainless screws.
MCfan
Doug, I searched the auto parts stores in vain to find several different sizes and lengths of bright trim screws for my '70s. I finally discovered that a large ACE hardware store in Crosslake, MN (one of the few retail stores in town) carried a huge selection of stainless steel nuts, bolts and screws for marine and lakeshore applications (as Yorkies has already suggested). They may not be chrome plated like the factory originals but they look almost as good and won't rust badly, if at all. When I installed a Keyless Klassics remote entry system in my SS last summer, I really messed up one of the door latch screws that was determined not to loosen. When I went to ACE Hardware, they didn't have the exact size and length of oval head phillips screw to replace the painted stock screw BUT they did have it in stainless steel! It looked so good that I replaced all three latch plate screws and I didn't paint them because they looked like they belonged there that way. If you can't find stainless sheet metal screws at a local supplier, you can order them in any quantity you want from places like BoltDepot.com. Here's a LINK to one that I believe may be dimensionally the same as the stock screws. If not, just search their wide selection until you find one you like. You'll need to specify a Phillips oval head sheet metal screw of the proper diameter (i.e. #8, #10, etc) and length in inches. I believe all oval head screws come with the countersunk shoulder. Good luck.
72-CLASSIC_RIDE
I did try my local ACE Hardware and their selection is awesome as well. I found a couple that were close but the screw heads diameter were to big. I thought they would be available from someone. Thanx guys & Dennis for excellent info. I'm sure I will find something................... Doug

RealRed70
I will look to see what I have. I just may have some. I have quite a few tail light screws.
72-CLASSIC_RIDE
Appreciate that Dan. Looked through AMK Products as Keith had suggested. A couple possibilities but will need to get a set of Calipers from my brother to measure screw dimensions (Looks to be an 8X18X3/4 Flush Head). These appear to be specific for our 1st Gens? RealRed70
If you could post a picture of what you need it would help. I have hardware from Chevelles, Elcamino's and Monte Carlo's. My car is in away in storage right now, so I can not look at those right now.
72-CLASSIC_RIDE
It is a #8X18X3/4" Phillips Head Screw used 7 places each side on securing ornamental Tail Light Hardware & Lenses. They are common all 7 places that have a smaller head diameter than found on other similar screws. The Head Size looks to be the determining factor. I don't have a pic but will see if I can make a good pic of one and post it later. Doug
RealRed70
I now have samples of the screws needed. I will dig around to see how many I can come up with. Looks like 7 screws are needed per tail light housing.

72-CLASSIC_RIDE
I'm sure I could get them from :Leo Konick if I get desperate and will check Ant Motorsports if they show up on eBAY. Thanks guys, ps. Just bought a kit from eBAY that covers other screws that could be beneficial to have extras for. We will see just how close to original they are. RealRed70
If you are still in need of the screws, I have a nice set of 14 of them. Enough to do both tail light housings. I found a set of tail light housings and removed them. Then I polished them up. They look real nice. Private Message me if interested. Sorry it took so long top locate them. Thank you.
