patman
Can a sbc be bolted to a pontiac/olds/buick turbo 350? I noticed last night that the only bolts holding my trans to the engine were the two lower ones on each side. So after checking it out more I saw that none of the other holes on the engine lined up to the holes on the trans. Can it be done? Or did chevy change it's bolt pattern somewhere down the line...??? BTW, there doesn't appear to be any kind of adaptor in between them.
bobsmc
sounds like you have the wrong trans. however they did make one that was universal to all gm engines. that could cause stress cracking on the bell housing .
Heckeng
The bolt patterns are different. Like Bob was saying though, some BOP trannys were dual bolt pattern. I've run one of them with no issues. You need to find a universal case, or a Chevy case. Sorry.

Mo's70MCs
These are the SBC bolt pattern dimensions. Does this help?
patman
These are the SBC bolt pattern dimensions. Does this help? really cool thanks the only bolts that line up are the two lower ones right and left. The three on the top have nothing in them. As a matter of fact, the trans doesn't even fully cover these holes! do you have anything like this drawing for the BOP trans?
kc8oye
you have the Buick/Olds/Pontiac case TH350. the top two bolts are located differently, if they don't line up, you have the BOP trans. if you can find a TH350 in a CHEVY case, you can swap your guts into the chevy case, they are the same. Mike 57
Pat, It sounds like you have a BOP tranny. the bottom two bolts are the only ones the same. This is probably your pattern
