Dtret
These pictures are pirated from the 71 SS clone in the for sale section. My question today is- since my fenders were acid dipped when I bought my car, are they painted below where the hood bumpers would go— above the wheel wells. I know I typed in confusion. In the pictures is the red correct or should it be black

I think it’s the way it’s supposed to be. My body man was thinking everything below the ridge where the hood bumper goes was black. I think I disagree and agree with you. MC1of80
You are welcome. Figured a showing of a few different colors would help. Lolol
cny first gen 71
Tom why does the underside of the red car hood look redish rusty looking?
MC1of80
Grrrrr!!!! Because it kinda is. That's the way I purchased the car. It actually has a 71 hood on it. I haven't decided yet if I will paint the underside or install and paint match a 70 hood I have.... Yes, you know it.... In stock! Lolol. Idk when I will make the decision though, I've owned the car for a few years. Lol
cny first gen 71
The underside is a pain to paint for sure. The one in working on was worse than that but sanded off fairly easy but that hood is not on the car. I did do a scuff and shoot with the hood on my car didn't come out to bad. MC1of80
I hear ya. Lol. That's just it, I would take the hood off as not to get black paint where I don't want it and since it's off, snowball! Lol paint the top and underside of a 70 hood or just black on the 71 hood on it now. Lolol

The red will be harder to paint cut and buff for sure and you'd still have to do the underside of the other one too.
MC1of80
Yes, but it would be the correct year hood for the car. Lol
