SS Exhaust tips

Recommended Posts

I need the measurement of the SS exhaust tips that extend past the rear bumper. That would be from the bend on the rear bumper to the top of the tip.

I added pictures but they are hard to make out. Too much bling!

The 1971 Factory Assembly Manual shows some dimensions on page 8-3. The 1970 manual has the same info for the Monte as well.

Looks like the dimension from bottom of bumper to top of tip is: 1.25", and the stick-out of the tip from bumper is: 1.04" for the Monte Carlo.

The "*" footnote gives you  +/- .25" variation from the 'Reference Dimension'.

Me personally, I like to put my exhaust as high & tight as I can get it. I would be aiming for the low side of those tolerances (especially the drop from the bottom of bumper), but that's just my personal preference.

Thanks again Joe. I’m sure I missed that. Must be my old brain! I have both those assembly manuals but missed those dimensions.

No worries Carl, it was sort of buried in there a bit.

Show us some pics when you get them done.

I have mine 2 inches out past the bumper. And I still periodically have to make sure that I clean the bumper to get exhaust film off of it. Just make sure you clean the rear bumper. Otherwise it will corrode faster. I learned that from experience.
