201fireman
Stall converter or not? I have a 355 mildly built. I am rebuilding my T350 trans and putting a shift kit in it. What are your thoughts on a stall converter. Advantages and disadvantages? Good stall speed to go with for a motor like mine? Also, is there a stall in a factory converter and if so, what is it set at?
Sam (Bones)
the stall in a converter can vary depending how much torque is applied without knowing your gear, cam, ect, ect is impossible to give you a suggestion if it is only a very mild 350, stay with a stock converter
Mike Brichta
I would say stay with the stock converter which I believe is around 1800. Also, I would suggest purchasing a new converter if you are rebuilding the trans. Two of my montes have 355 engines with rebuild TH350s with shift kits and I used the stock converters in both and have no issues. My 72 monte has a 383 engine with a TCI TH350 and I used a 2200-2400 converter. Much different car since the converter switch. And with the price of gas going up and up, I would suggest the stock converter. Mike
