rollin 72 monte Posted June 27, 2011 Share Posted June 27, 2011 hi guys i want to know how hard or how easy would it be to fix a leak from were the speedometer cable goes to i asked at a tranmission place how much to fix the leak and they said 30 bucks and i told my self hhhhmmm hey it can be that hard if there only charging 30 bucks right. so if any body can tell me how to do it or show me any pics please. and thanks in advance hahhah Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Mike 57 Posted June 27, 2011 Share Posted June 27, 2011 There is a small seal that goes into the speedo housing. disconnect the cable, unbolt the hold down for the housing, pull the housing out, slip the plastic drive gear out, check for wear, pull the seal out from the front and replace. Big Jim Posted June 27, 2011 Share Posted June 27, 2011 The factory Speedo Gear housing is made of aluminum and tends to leak over time. The only solution is to change to a steel housing but be careful to pull the plastic speedo gear when pulling the housing or it will fall into the tailpiece. This is on a 350Turbo.
