jja
Am thinking about having the 350 sb tuned up. Seems to idle rough. New spark plugs (any particular brand ?). Still has original points. I assume the timing will need adjusting. Anything else you guys recommend?

allchevy
You doing it or are you taking it somewhere? If you think it has original points then it must be low miles?
Big Jim
Check to make sure carb bolts are tight. May be a vacum leak.
cny first gen 71
Yup points plugs condenser cap rotor wires air filter breather element clean carb and adjustments as needed. I have always had better luck with autolite plugs than ac and if you can find blue streak ignition parts they work well (although you may not be able to). Some dont like accel but I use them and havent had a problem.I switched from points to pertronx ignighter its a good move but a little more work and expense. Compression test would be good too. Good luck.
Chevyss
w/ Steve I've always had the best of luck with Autolites. Not sure why, but I've been using them in my bowties since the 70s. Bluestreak is good stuff also.
jja
Thanks for all the suggestions. It is all original including Quadrajet and points and condenser. Have been thinking about replacing points/condenser with HEI. Anyone have a good suggestion for that conversion that doesn't change outward appearance? Also, what would I be able to change if the compression test of the cylinders shows a difference?
72SinceNew
I've used the Crane points eliminator module in the original distributer for about six years now - no probs - hits a good lick to the plugs in the Vortec heads. Still using .035 gap - using cheap Jegs high output coil - I love not having to worry about points gap. Still need info on finding nuetral safety and backup lights wires to install in my new TCI FastGate floor shifter connected to my extreme automatics 200-4R - what color are they - whats the best way to get them to my shifter? 72SinceNew - Email info to CryptoRL@bellsouth.net Please
