  1. Took Monte in for a tranny rebuild, and the snowball started rolling. I oil pan had a bold missing I thought, but it was snapped off inside, fixed it. Rear diff. cover also had a missing bolt, but no, broken off too, fixed it. oil all over the rear brakes, had the rear bearings replaced not to long ago, but the axels were bad so new rear axels too. When the pan was off we found it filled with little bits of plastic pieces, yup, the coating on the original timing gears, so, new timing gears and since we were there, new oil pump and water pump. Got Monte rolling again and what a difference. I now have passing gear, the shifts are crisp and smooth. Monte is riding like he should once again. I'm really glad I did not try to go to the Western Meet like I wanted to, I would have been stranded somewhere on I5 for sure. Next year! I hope.
  2. Great Pictures Aaron. I especially like the picture of the Condor Cuisinart mounted on the hilltops. Makes me wish I was going too. Monte is getting his tranny rebuilt, next week new windshield and fixing a few things that I have neither the skill nor the time for.
  3. Monte is getting his tranny rebuilt, no more kitty litter on the garage floor.
  4. Thanks, sorry I can't make it up to Oregon this year, hopefully next year. I'm on the schedule for a trans rebuild, new windshield and some minor interior work. Pics forthcoming.
  5. Got new T/A's for Monte today. No more wobble from the stone age Firestones anymore.
  6. Monte is looking more aggressive with the new springs, shocks, and tires.
  7. My two cents would be to take off the valve covers inspect and lube the top end, could be pretty dry and even rusty after 25 years then replace them with new gaskets if all checks out okay. Plus what the others said. Good sign it spins!
  8. I've been away for almost a month, looks awesome. Keep up the good work and oh yes the pictures too.
  9. Way to break in the grandson Steve. Looks like you guys had a great time together!

  12. Looks great Dennis. I need to get into my Monte like you did. Been away, but back now.
  13. Very nice Monte and welcome. I live close to you in Paso Robles, if you take a run out to the coast some day send me a pm and we can get together.
  14. Great sound, no wonder that Monte stands up when you get on it!
  15. Thanks for the pics, great job. I have a '71, just swapped out both bumpers, my bumper brackets were not cut, I don't know if there is a difference between years on the brackets though.
  16. Yep, what those guys said, did the same on mine recently, no leaks.
  17. Terry, so glad to hear it worked out for you, great news!
  18. All good advice, I've had both causes mentioned here, oil up the intake bolts and valve covers, both fixed with little expense.
  19. Good call on the rebuild Abe. Definitely the right call. It will be interesting to see what's going on too.
  20. Thanks for the pictures, they are truly inspiring. Oh and keep up the excellent work.
