  5. I'm redoing my bbc427. looking to get 475-500hp out of this combo, looking for some cam suggestions: hy-roller. block bored 60over. 10.5:1 compression. rect closed chamber heads around 110cc. 2.19in, 1.88ex valves. heads and intake been gasket matched. single plane intake. 750dp holley carb. my builder has some idea on the cam and so did comp cam tech. just want to get some other opinion before i decides. thanks thanh
  6. thanks jim luckly all the tracks i go to have nice long wide shut down and turn to the return road, but i'll look into a manual box anyways. thanh
  7. fiberglass fenders and a pin on hood, fiber glass bumper = roughly 120lbs of the front end. but it is very expensive as stated earlier. manual brakes, manual steering, ac delete, aluminum radiator, electric fan could net you another 50lbs. how much do you want to spend? what you're goal with the car? thanh
  8. quick question. can i just remove and cap of the lines and reservior from the power steering and just use it like that? keep in mind this car is for the track only. thanks thanh
  9. got the engine out of the 71. chase down and took out a bunch of wiring that is not needed in the 72. next will be taking out the heater core in the 72. thanh
  10. like andy said- put the red box in and forget about it. thanh
  11. mike. congrat. thanh
  12. Paul. sorry for your lost. congrat on the racing. thanh

    Roll Cage

I'm doing the same thing. if you want a kit- summit or jegs is the easiest. if not find a good car builder and have it made for the car. I'm having the roll bar made by the same guy that built our t/s camaro that runs in the 6's. i think he knows what he's doing. thanh
  14. Jim. I'm tearing it down for my piece of mind. I wanted to replace the bearings anyway. it's been a while scince i had the bottom end apart. tranny's going to the shop for a freshen up and trans-brake install. Rear end getting shorten and ford ends put on. and new pressure gage installed. so i need something to do over the winter to keep me sane. might even end up putting the roll- bar in the car to keep it legal. Andy. pictures will post as soon as i get to it. thanh
  15. thanks guys for the ideas. the engine's coming out anyway. I wanted to freshen up the lower end, so i will post what i find when i have it out. thanh
  16. Ok. here goes. when the engine 1st start up, oil pressure is at 70-80psi. oil warms up, 20-25psi at idle. drive around the block, oil drops to almost 0psi at idle. bring rpm up to 2000, get 10-15psi. it does it with 5w-30 oil, 10w-40, 15w-45, 20w-50. oil full, 1 quart low, 2 quarts low. any guess on what it might be? engine is coming out, just getting some ideas. thanks thanh
  17. Scott. I run the stock rubber ones from autozone with the 496. been in there for years without problem. i think i make a little more then 500hp. and it goes to the track too. so you're safe to run the stock mount. get a refund if you can, if not someone here might be interested in them. thanh
  18. congrat mike. i'll catch up to you someday. thanh
  19. THIS is the pump i have, been on the car for a year with no problem cooling my 496bbc. thanh
  20. put on the slicks, getting ready for the long island showdown. thanh
  21. just a shot in the dark. did you try the other set of holes in the flex plate? thanh
  22. Phil. i took the staples out of my shroud, took the middle section out, restaple the shroud, saves the middle section when/ if ever i need to put it back together. thanh
  23. depends on how heavy your right foot is. seriuosly, the wear mark is there for a reason. we never let our tires get to the marks. $3-$400 is alot less then what you would loose if they let go, especially at the big end. jm2cents. thanh
