we run the top sportsman class. the monte run 11.47 last year. have not run it this year yet. added a 100 shot and switched from a 10inch 3500 convetor to a 8inch 5500 convertor, hoping to hit the 10's. BTW- I like your camaro. what year? steel body or glass? thanh

we were running 7.75 in the quarter no nitrous last year, but this year rules changed in our class, so to qualify we have to add a 150-200 shot to qualify at 7.60 or better. there is nothing wrong with running nitrous as long as you KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. our 565ci motor is already running on the edge. but rhye-morrisson says we can spray up to 250-300 and the motor will handle it as long as we tune it correctly. have not gone that high yet. it all come down to tuning your motor for the nitrous, do it right and you'll have a pretty cheap/ reliable power adder. so go for it.

    D/R Patch

it depends on where the leak is, on the tread- plug it and enjoy, on the side wall- replace.
  5. i use an old heating pad wrap around the bottle between rounds. also i bring 2-3 bottles, i change them after every run to keep the same pressure- consistency. and yes i've seen guys heat the bottle with a torch. not a good idea.
  6. ditto, more and more members are racing. would be cool to see a bunch of montes go to the races.
  7. HERE you go tim. lots of info. have fun.
  8. Tom. doing great, how about you? are you racing this year? we'll be doing the NHRA and the IHRA this year. so we'll be racing alot more this year. still trying to get into the 10's. might do it with the nitrous. see you @ LVD. Thanh
  9. X2 ANY BB that is thought out and put together correctly will make lots of torque, if it can't move the monte then you really have issues.
  10. i have glass fenders, not sure if they are glastek because i got them from a member here. this was 3-4 years back so they were just coming out with glass fenders, alot of work to get them to fit right, i don't know if the fitment is better but if you're doing a show car- go with steel, it will be easier and looks better. my car sees maybe 500miles a year cruising, but a lot of track time. the glass is holding fine.
  11. thanks guys, i actually put the sensor in one of the pressure ports on the body. so it would see actually operating temp. thanh
  12. what is the best location for the sensor? in the oan or in the out going line to cooler? thanks. thanh
  13. i don't remember your combo, but i think mine is close to yours and i have a 5000 8" race converter i'm thinking of trying out, i have the 10" tci @ 3200-3600rpm in the car now. after reading this i will be installing the converter for sure. come on spring, time to go racing. i let you know how it goes if your interested.
  14. 10" tci here, lots of 1/4 mile passes and few hunded miles on the street for the past 5 years, still holding up pretty good.
  15. thanks guys. i knew you guys would get me in the right direction. bones- where did you get the spec and Msrp? allen- yes it would be a nice treat but i might have a 565 rhyes- morrison @ 1000hp going into the monte for a few runs before we trade it in for another 565@ 1400hp . i'll find out what is the weakest link in the car thanh
  16. i have a chance to get a pair of aluminum heads from a zz572 bbc engine for a great price. can you guys and gals tell me if these heads will fit on a mark IV block? thanks thanh.
  17. Dave did you shim the clutches to eliminate the pressure plate and springs? if so let me know how it works. thanks. i was going to do that when i changed my clutches to carbon, but didn't know how well it would work, so i shimmed the clutches and put 400lbs springs also. thanh
  18. actually the aluminum is less expensive then the piping from summit. tim . i have not seen my exhaust glow after the collectors, but that is something to consider. they do make header gaskets out of aluminum. so the heat would not be a problem, i don't believe, i could be wrong.
  19. for exhaust. any one done this? i'm redoing my exhaust, could not believe how heavy it was, so this idea came up, save a few pounds and no rust. feed back please. thanh

    help

Jacob nitrous mastermind, any one run this unit? if so i need some help on connecting an edelbrock nitrous system to this unit. the direction is not too clear on the wiring. thanks. thanh
  21. nice runs. welcome to the 11's club. i'm going the same direction you are with the nitrous. you'll be in the 10's before you know it. just be careful with the nitrous. check your timing and fuel pressure before each run, have fun. thanh

    Traction Bars

love the lift bars. use to have alot of wheel hop. no more and the rear hooks a lot better. stock upper arms. front wheel of the ground.
  23. those were my first choice before M/T came out with the D/R. tried a set from my buddy. hooks well but needs a good burn out. pretty close to the M/T. hopes that helps. thanh
  24. as far as shifters goes, hurst does not compare to B&M. on my b&m to change my shifting pattern from 3 to 4 speed or forward to reverse pattern all i have to do is replace the shift plate with the one i want. undo the cover, two bolts, switch plate and i'm done. just my 2 cents thanh
  25. if you shorten the rear end by 5", it might fit. if there's a will there's a way. thanh
