  1. [quote=footballubetSounds like something is brewing! Leave it to Scooter to think something is "BREWing" Rob
  2. As Scott said, it depends what time we will drag our back sides out of bed in Princeton. I don't know that our rooms will be ready much before 2:00PM on Thursday so I was not going to break my neck to get there too early. I guess I figured we would get on the road once we got everyone ready to go. With this, it may spur us out the door a little earlier. We will play it by ear. I just hope I will be able to keep up with the rest of the group. Rob
  3. I bought a pair of those panels made by a member for future use. From what I understand, they are far superior to the ones you will buy from some of the supply houses. Rob
  4. Maybe I will try to put together a Guru outfit and burn incense. Rob
  5. I think the Coopers won the prize last year for the best outfits. Rob
  6. Greg, Like you, I thought it was all in fun. That said, I can understand where it could send mixed signals. I would never want to send a kid a mixed signal on drug use. Drug use is a very serious thing. My ex-brother-in-law blew the better part of.... Well, let's just say he blew a small fortune on drugs and alienated my sister and their three sons. He went from a very successful man to someone in and out of jail due to a drug addiction. Also, I have the highest respect for the main person who brought this to my attention. It is something I never considered and would rather refrain from it no matter how innocent it may seem. A note to everyone, I did not post this information for people to support one side or the other. I only wanted to let people know that that portion of the era should be left outside of our dinner. I would rather not do it than upset even one persons feelings in this club. Thanks Rob
  7. I have talked with Jared regarding the Eastern Meet Awards Dinner. We will be having the "Period Dress" so drag out those old bags of clothes and start going through them. Find those bell bottom pants, Tie Dyed shirts, peace symbols etc. Just one note. In some of the past dinners I handed out little bags of grass. That is right grass out of my lawnmower cuttings. It has been brought to my attention that any reference to drugs may send a confusing signal. There will be young children and teens at the meet and it is felt that this could send some mixed signals to these kids. Yes, it was all in fun and I never thought of this as a problem but since it was mentioned to me I have to agree it may not be a good idea so I will not be handing out my "nickle bags" and we request others minimize the reference to drugs. Rob
  8. Mine is exactly like Dan's. I also tried to remove mine but it would not come out and, like Dan, I didn't want to risk breaking it. Since I can't take it apart I can't say for sure how it works. I thought it was supposed to glow green or white when you turn the wipers on with fluid present and red when it gets low but mine has never been low enough to show what color it is suppoed to be when low. Rob
  9. I have a rechromed bumper on my rear and when it came time to do my front I didn't have enough money to have it done but I had enough for one of the reproduction bumpers. I can tell you that the fit of the reproduction was absolutely perfect. The finish is not as nice as you may get from a high quality chrome shop but it is very acceptable. I still have my origional front bumper and in the future I plan to have it rechromed but I am perfectly happy with the reproduction one. Rob
  10. Kevin, it is looking very good. Did you get the Tranny fixed from the meet in Bristol? Rob
  11. Sorry Sammy, it was early and I was in a hurry, you are right. Rob
  12. I agree with almost everything Sam said with the exception of the timing. My car is a late 70 out of the Baltimore plant and it has the full Halo. My car was produced in June/July 70 timeframe. The time a particular plant switched from the full halo, with the paint visible between the trim and the windshield, had more to do with when they were running out of the full halo trim and had received their trim for the 71 model year. The only other point of clarification not mentioned in Sam's post is that the same "Vinyl Top" trim was used on the two tone painted cars to separate the two colors. Rob
  13. Just a few notes. My car has a fully functional Fiber Optic Light Monitoring System. Dave was right about it being a 70 option only and was not offered on the 71/72. On mine, for the front, the Green ones are for the headlights and the clear/white ones are for the turn signals. Since the turn signal bulbs are amber, the white/clear ones glow amber when they are on. I am not sure if the plug that goes into the headlight is a special plug or not but the fiber optic cable for the headlights plugs directly into the middle of the wiring plug which connects to the headlight bulb. On the back of each bulb there is a little tit that sticks out from the bulb lamp moulding and this comes in contact with that little tit. For all of the other light fixtures, the front turn signal, license plate lamp and the rear lamps the housing are all special housing with a hole in them where the fiber optic, surrounded by a rubber grommet plugs in, sealing the hole. rob
  14. Kevin, I think I would do the clear coat treatment of some kind. I have a feeling they had some kind of protection on them when they were new and it may have been clear coated in some what. I would try different clear coat finishes in an area it dosen't show much and see how it looks and make my decision from that. I am sure others have actually done something to restore theirs and maybe they will speak up. Rob
  15. I have had the NOS metal ones on my car since I bought it in 2000 and I have had no problems with them. What I can say is without them the edge of my door would be toast by now. The garage I have my car stored in is very tight and I almost always have to bump the door edge against the wall just to get into or out of the car and I can guarantee there would be no paint on the dorr edges by now without them. Rob
  16. I can't reply to the plugs but the color of the splatter paint in the trunk is different depending upon the year. I think the 70 was the aqua and the 71/72 was black. I am not positive on that but I think that is true. Rob
  17. Hey Jake, If that is the case it could be something that nobody else in the club could lay claim to. What a great story and how excited are you about this possibility... I hope it comes true but I'm sure you won't let us know..... or will you. Rob
  18. The SS I have mentioned for sale in the SS forum is located in Jacksonville, NC so if anyone is in the area and call look at it for any interested member let us know. Rob
  19. Bob, To the best of my knowledge, the SS was the only FGMC that had exhaust tips and they were rectangular/oval in shape... I should say rectangular with rounded corners because they were neither rectangular or oval...
  20. Good Job Aaron. NOw all we need is for someone to post a picture of where the 72 horn mounts Rob
  21. I will have to look at mine and post how mine run. I remember putting holes in my new inner fenders in the same place as my old ones. My extensions are the origional. Rob
  22. Ian or Allan, This looks like something we should place into the "Resources"/"Technical Information" area of the website. Rob
  23. Jim, From Pittsburgh, I have driven mine to: Greensburg (Joint meet) Cleveland (NMCOA meet) Carlisle (FGMCC Eastern Meet) Indy (FGMCC Eastern Meet) Bristol Tenn, (FGMCC Eastern Meet) Commerace Ga (FGMCC Eastern Meet). I have loved every trip but since it is a low mileage car (46,000 orig miles) I hate to put the miles on her. Rob
  24. Jared, If there are two people that are close, as you and Jim were, we would have used a mapping program on the computer and mapped it out from door to door to see for sure and to be totally fair. I had no idea Jim had driven his car or I would have done that. Driving a 454 that far had to cost a bundle. I know that Greg and Capri were saying that they got better mileage in their truck, towing their 454, than they were getting in the car the short distance they drove it prior to going back to get it on the trailer.
