  1. Never realized they were cad plated. I did my booster the same way with basecoat, then sprayed a pearl overtop of that that gives it kind of a greenish flip to the color, with a matte clear, my bosses 442 he had the cad plate spray paint stuff from eastwood, I actually think mine looks a little better, and has stood up better than his. Its not quite right, but like you said, keep the $ in your pocket. Noone really notices anyway. Unless your going for a total stock appearance for shows or something it isnt worth it to me. Id pocket the money and paint your shields too. Tony
  2. Not really sure on the factory color of them Sam, you could always go with that Eastwood stuff! I shot mine a silver with a course metallic in it and a matte clear. Its pretty tough to see them but they look good from under the car I suppose. Not much help from me on this one but I felt bad cause you had no reply!! Tony
  3. I believe its only the early 70 models, but Im not sure on that. There are other threads on this here, and Im sure someone else will chime in. Welcome to the site and congrats on owning a Monte!! Tony
  4. Well Tom as you can see youll always get an answer from someone here....even if its yourself. At least you got the correct answer. I went into work and looked at mine after I read your post, but didnt go too far into the investigation, but thanks for the info!! Tony
  5. Guess I shoulda paid a little more attention to details!! Didnt even notice that 400 part!! Sorry. Tony
  6. I had a similar problem with my olds, turns out it was just my detent(kick down) cable pulled tight. Just a simple guess on my part. Try the simple stuff first. I unhooked it from the carb and pushed it in and out. I suppose I just got lucky but give it a shot!! Tony
  7. Very cool Bill, congrats on that. Gotta love them cooler nights! Tony
  8. Pretty good Kliegl. I usually buy 2 gaskets and extra fluid cause I have no luck. Actually we have been battling with my bosses 70 442 convertible pan gasket for a month now. 3 gaskets later hes finally going to buy a pan. It is amusing right now his car is up on the lift, and my monte is below it with a maxwell house can sitting on my cowl catching any drips. I cant really complain cause hes doing work on my car and there is no storage charge either. I took a few pics of this and as soon as I get them developed Ill be sure to scan one and post it. My wife just commented the other day how I need to take a pic of it, his nice car up in the air and mine sitting under it. Thank god hes a motor head too. Tony
  9. Im curious about this also. Cant believe noone has had input. There have been mixed reviews of PUI interiors on another thread. Actually they were mostly bad from what I remember. Im going to be getting all the rubber for mine from Muscle cars only Rob Peters has had a lot of nice things to say about them and I have gotten a few little things from them so far had good success. Im not sure who thier supplier is for these items though. Im sure if you ask any company they would tell you though. Unless they are trying to hide something. Tony
  10. The sound of the motor should be all the music you need!!! Welcome to the site! Tony
  11. I have the wide belt molding option on mine and as Rob said there is no thin chrome strip on the actual window "fuzzies" Tony
  12. I talked to a guy at Luttys, and he said they had them, But in the catalog it was listed as soor felt with special moldings, so Im not too sure now from what you say. The original ones on your car dont have any chrome at all right, they are just black. That is what my 71 has on it. I was going to order that kit but now Im going to check into it further. Ill let you know what I find out and keep me posted on your end. Tony
  13. I just did the same swap this weekend, not only do you need the throttle bracket. but edelbrock sells a trans cable extention for your application. I ordered mine today and Ill let you know how it works. I dont have the part # at home, its in the car, but Ill email you the # tomorrow. Tony
  14. The only way I have found to remove the drip rail moldings is I started at the front by the windshield up underneath the molding, and with a putty knife I got it started and then just ran the knife towards the back of the car, peeling the bottom of the molding off, then the top pops free. But I must warn you that it kind of twisted mine a little bit, I was told that they would go back on and be straight but havent tried it yet because they were a real pain to get off. Good luck.
