Hey Tommy, as said prior any progress is progress. Just take your time, I have a rule that if i'm not 100 % up for working on mine I don't. Always seems when your not in the mood things go wrong and its not an enjoyable experience. Not that I call busted knuckles bruises and cuts enjoyable but its just part of the game . And as stated, your always going to have something you want to work on to replace, or upgrade, or make better. Thanks for sharing the pic's

Thats a shame, they probably stopped working on your set to expedite Joe's order 🤣 They did include some nice decals for the tool box with my order. I can't imagine trying to install headers without the car being jacked up.
-
Mike, from the ARH website I believe yes, i'd give them a call to verify specifics. They advertise specific to 1970/72 454 Montes on the site.
-
Interesting about the starter, we didn't speak of it but my crate comes with a mini starter so maybe thats why. Nice he's going to try and expedite your order. When you order your starter make sure you get one with the right bolt pattern 🤣 speaking from experience I am 😯

I saw in a different post Paul got his pistons. I didn't get my x-mas present to myself yet but its still an x-mas present for ME ! 😆 My UPS driver is one of my neighbors, he saw the Monte getting unloaded when it was delivered and laughed, guess i'll be stopping by your house a lot again 😁 Merry Christmas to all
-
Hey Joe, all my conversations were with Nick and when I told him my setup he said go with the 2" primaries which is what I did. If I remember correctly he said anything over 500HP go with the 2". Glad we were able to convince you to get yourself an x-mas present 😁
-
Thanks guys, i'll have to crawl up under the Monte and get a visual for that. I have a floor console automatic, I haven't pulled the trans yet so i'll eyeball the linkage. Joe, do you have a part # for the summit work around?
-
Great pics Dan, thanks for posting. What linkage are you speaking of ( " reinstall the back drive linkage from the TH400 to the steering column" ) ? I also have a TH400 trans and am on the low end of the learning curve

I was able to get one side out of the box without having to re-arrange another set of boxes 😮 If I had the crate engine sitting in the garage I might have taken you up on your offer 😎 Looks like we may get another cooler front but its been overcast the last 2 days
-
Ok, i'll try and unbox them and post a few pic's this weekend. I looked at the pic's Dan/overdrive posted and maybe you were right, a frame off would have been a lot easier for the engine swap 🤣 Just a reminder, ARH builds theirs per order so the pictured ones may not reflect your specifics. Also, ARH doesn't include header gaskets, at least they didn't with me.

Awww c'mon, blow the cob webs off that check book and getcha some 😀 and even 10% off. Earlier in the thread Jeff form NJ said he has some on his 496 1970 with no issues.
-
If I get a chance I will. You might be better informed waiting for Paul to install his since i'm just basically looking at a stripped down block in the engine compartment. A buddy of mine came over yesterday to help me get the hood off (its now sitting in my family room) so we can hoist the old out when the crate motor gets here. He wanted to see the headers and laughed at the engine cradle sitting under the dinning room table. It must be a car guy thing cause he laughed, your house looks just like mine, parts everywhere 😎
-
I know I had trouble getting the d/s exhaust manifold out without lifting the car up. Probably me just being over cautious trying not to smash the proprtioning valve or the kick down wire harness, slid right out with the car up
-
No I didn't test fit them yet, still sitting in the box in my family room 🤣I figured I'd wait.

Gerry, I have an HEI dizzy so don't know if there is a difference but mine runs directly to a port on the carb. Not sure which air cleaner line your questioning, below is a pic of mine (can't guarantee its to spec) The smaller line on the horn/nozzel runs to the base of the air cleaner. The larger connection on the p/s back of the air cleaner runs to the p/s valve cover ( its the aluminum looking line)

Glad you got it home Antoine and got to put some miles on it!

Oh NO Sir, i'm going to plan sometime around July/August so you too can experience working in a garage with no a/c in the middle of summer here lol. Its not that miserable working like today in the 70's. The a/c hasn't kicked on in the house this week with "our" cold front lol. I don't remember the exact order to build to deliver time on mine, was a couple of weeks. They sure look purrrrty .
-
Hey Paul, yes they asked for my port shape but didn't ask my collector size. I did 2" primaries also, Nick told me since the crate is rated 508HP to go with 2". I know the ARH are a little pricier than some other brands but shouldn't need any mods. Nick also said if they don't fit send'm back and he'll refund my whole price. I figured I would try and install at the same time as dropping in the engine if possible. The quick jack I bought has been a savior working on the car, The body off the frame comment was sarcasm/joke for Joe. He's been busting my chops about not doing enough to my MC.
-
I verified there was only 1 terminal post on my old plug. both TPP and OPGI say its supposed to be a 2 post so I ordered a new one from TPP.
-
I did order the ARH's, i'll update when I install them. One thing I will say for them, they built them when I ordered them. Joe told me to pull the body off the frame to install its a bunch easier. Since he already volunteered to do the body removal I set up a cot for him in the garage
-
I'll agree with Antoine, I think I read originals were rated 750cfm which might be a minimum of 650cfm in todays world. Since you seem to be adding performance I wouldn't go with the 600. It does bite not being able to use a NIB just sitting around

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
DragCat replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Engine is 90% done with disassembly to get pulled. Going through and documenting trans to get it dropped and sent for a rebuild -
Yea Joe, i know lol. On the up side I am learning a lot about my MC. 😁
-
Thanks Paul, good to know I'll order a replacement. TPP didn't have a new wire harness so i'm probably going to splice in new below the oil sensor plug.
