  1. It's on the evaporator box, under the hood. Location circled in red.
  2. Agreed, A couple more bolts & the engine is out..... Me personally, I hate doing things twice. Why waste the time, effort & money on the same parts that you'll be doing again in the near future?
  3. It'll be no problem to swing the A/C out of the way. The exhaust manifolds, it depends if you'll have good access to the lower row of head bolts. Remove accordingly.
  4. Awesome! Now, hopefully the new fuse will not blow again. If it does, that may indicate other problems. We can deal with that if & when it happens. Thanks for letting us know.
  5. Worth a shot, and an easy fix if that's all it was. Let us know after you try it.
  6. If you need any help, or questions to anything, don't hesitate to ask. This is the best group of people, not only on the internet, but anywhere. Since you're keeping the car, don't be a stranger either. That, and we like pictures, lots of pictures!
  7. Some guys are on the fence about day trips too. After driving 9 to 12 hours for some of us to get to Bristol, the last thing some mentioned is driving around even more. At least in Carlisle or Syracuse, once you get to the fairgrounds, you can sit & relax a couple days before making another long trek home. I'm sure it's a beautiful areas to see though, just like the pics of the Western meets we've seen posted by Aaron. Just being honest, but it is a consideration for some.
  8. Still makes a major difference if the car has EFI or not. EFI won't really tolerate a tank without internal baffling (or some type of slosh control), especially in turns, or low fuel level. A carb has a float bowl with a mini-reservoir to help bridge the gap when the pickup tube is sucking air. That's why it's important John to see how your car is equipped, to figure out your problem.
  9. Welcome to the forum John. Does the car have EFI or carb? Engine mounted mechanical fuel pump, or electric in the fuel tank? Does it do it when the tank is full, half, quarter tank, all the time, etc,? Answers to these questions will change the troubleshooting path in different directions.
  10. I just plugged mine into the Custom Autosound unit in my car, no issues. Doubtful they would have used a different windshield/antenna in the cars, based on the radio option. May try an antenna booster or something like that, might help. Stupid question, but have to ask. You're not just trying to tune the FM stations in a garage or structure, but out in the open as well? I get poor signals sometimes in the shop.

  12. C.K found a video of the show, but it's Friday. The opening drone footage shows how large the place is, but still doesn't do it justice. We can't find any good Saturday vids yet, but they're sure to come. The Saturday attendance nearly doubled from Friday. There should be a helicopter vid too he says, so hopefully we'll find that one to post.
  13. - May be 1-1/8" socket according to google. - I had the car on the lift, probably grabbed the yoke with a big wrench to keep it from spinning. An impact may work to take it off too, just not to install. - Normal, 7/8"-16 thread
  14. I've changed them in place, no big deal. I was changing the yoke to a different size, plus replacing the axles & bearings on both the Monte & Z/28 recently, so the rear cover was off anyways. Take the yoke nut off, pull the yoke & seal out & replace. Be careful not to over torque the nut when installing because there is a crush sleeve in there that is a critical part of the gear mesh adjustment. As always, put a little gear oil on the rubber seal lip so it doesn't spin dry. Also recommended to use a new nut, plus I usually blue Loctite it as well. Last, put some good quality RTV along the end of the spline & under the washer and nut to keep the gear oil from weeping out (not much, just use a skim coat). Remember, don't go crazy when you tighten it, do it by hand so you don't crush that sleeve any more. The seal is readily available, but I got them from Denny's Driveshaft when I picked up the new yokes. Look for a TIMKEN 8460N seal. The new nuts came with the yoke, but I'm sure he has them too. You could also stake & loctite the old nut if you can't find one too. Here's the line item for the seal from Denny's: 1 x [8460N] TIMKEN 8460N Pinion Seal fits Chevy 12 Bolt CAR & TRUCK rear ends
  15. I put urethane body mounts on mine, but it was specifically to help provide the most clearance for a 4L85E transmission. Very tight fit & it was recommended in a magazine article series for that type of build. If it was just a stock type of rebuild, I probably would have used rubber ones. Car rides pretty good though, doesn't seem harsh at all with the urethane mounts.
  16. Is there any news regarding a meet for Bristol? Over the weekend when we were at Syracuse, some people were asking about it, and it was also mentioned that it was only one day? Most of us are considering making the trip, but a major deal breaker is if it's only a one day event. Any news or clarification would be helpful.
  17. It's usually the other way around. If the resistor is bad, you lose the lower speeds.
  18. That's YOUR problem. I pressure you, you beg her....simple.
  19. Good, I'll start next week then.... Mark, are you following this? 😁
  20. Let us know what you find. If that doesn't help, we'll dig deeper.
  21. Oh boy, sorry for your loss as well Paul.
  22. Very sorry for your loss ☚ī¸. I googled 71 Monte Carlo line clip art and a few good ones came up. Looks like the artists put a 'watermark' over then, but I'm sure you could purchase the art from them to get a clean copy? This one is a 1970, but close... Here's another: Google Search results: ttps://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=71+Monte+Carlo++Line+Clip+Art&fir=l_WrnIyHz7d-WM%2CzsTM4M_Ki8dHKM%2C_%3BkPLu_92KDhKslM%2C8NpeC3xUJVL21M%2C_%3Bu29LIRI3vgFdeM%2C0VQf7eJCEtA_KM%2C_%3BAEWKtWeTFg_6bM%2CLvO1Bpw9pjyg9M%2C_%3BkwDYlCzRjkfoAM%2Clw_Yrqn6DJnrwM%2C_%3BbpQzR-8Iq-cYPM%2CV9HL9_A_LsVD3M%2C_%3BxEMRoKK3bDIaZM%2CzsTM4M_Ki8dHKM%2C_%3BLiNoBkji-f72OM%2CLvO1Bpw9pjyg9M%2C_%3BwpWCi64pmsl1_M%2CiURhkzhN6qM7OM%2C_%3BpAbEMXXe7Cv4wM%2C8EYeocoDrhiL_M%2C_&usg=AI4_-kSk6tij9c-imT2E6nS1u3Bm7Uhipw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj4praPmoP5AhVyEGIAHRVoCQcQjJkEegQIAxAC&biw=1423&bih=657&dpr=2.25
  23. C.K, you already know you can count Doug & myself in for next year, plus I'll be bringing the Monte as well. This year I left it home, to sort of see how it was all going to shake out, but half way thru I wished I would have just brought the car. Can't wait!
