  1. Actually, no. These items are in stock and will ship tomorrow according to the dude I spoke with.
  2. That’s the most stand-up thing anyone’s ever said to me, Paul! I sincerely appreciate your genuine concern 🤣😂
  3. You read my mind… I actually took a ride there with the Monte so they can get a look at what they’ll be dealing with. Yes, they will hand make the backseat. Aannnnnddddd, they were also kind enough to point out that my B pillar windlaces are kinda beat up (the two pieces I DIDN’T already order). So OPG got some more of my money today… windlaces and Dynamat ordered. Sh*t never ends 😂
  4. Welcome Paul!! Great looking car, I imagine there’s not too many of them cruising around Ireland. Now if only she were green…
  5. Yep… if I were a gamblin’ man (which, as luck has it, I am) I’d wager they used the same butter knife for the speaker cut outs on our package trays, Brew🤣 Not the best quality pictures as I had to take them from inside the car, but it’s quite obvious that their QC was lacking in this area…
  6. Now you got me thinkin’… the cutouts for your speaker(s) look like mine… like someone used a butter knife to saw thru the package tray. The first time I noticed this, I thought that maybe somebody did a hack job at some point. I’ll take pix tomorrow for comparison.
  7. Question: regarding backseat reupholstery, my Monte has springs in the backseat, but all I’ve seen is foam replacement cushions for NON spring seating. Am I missing something, or will an upholstery shop just rebuild both pieces with jute? I have the new vinyl covers ready to go, just not sure if I need to source material and bring it to the shop or if they’ll just fabricate it. Thanks for any input.
  8. You had me at driving barefoot🤣. The Duke Brothers would be proud. All [censored] aside, thanks for your response.
  9. Just looked into Dynamat through OPG. They sell a complete floor kit pre-cut for “easy assembly” that starts at the toe boards and stops at the backseat. The area under the rear seat and the quarter panels are a separate kit. My questions are: how thick is the Dynamat? - will it prohibit smooth installation of carpet with the extra padding/installation? I know it’s supposed to be great at helping with sound deadening, but will it also help with heat transfer from the motor, trans and exhaust? Asking because it looks like I may be able to get my girl into the upholstery shop as soon as my door panels arrive next month instead of waiting until spring. If it’s worth the investment, I will order it and have it installed with the rest of the interior.
  10. I got tears in my eyes I’m laughing so hard at these comments.
  11. You speaketh the truth! And thank you!
  12. Yes sir, there was a nice assortment of very nice cars. And thanks for the compliment on my photography skills! And you should write for automobile magazines with your descriptive verbiage! regarding the license plate… the people at the Secretary of State for the fine state of Ill-ANNOY prohibit you from certain sequences of numbers and letters on personalized or vanity plates. The restrictions are even more so on vanity plates. Trust me when I tell you I tried for RPO Z20…
  13. This was in Palos Hills, see the attached screenshot. I forgot to ask how often they have this, but I’ll try to find out and get back to you.
  14. Thanks gents! I wish I had a nickel for every time I had to respond to “whats your plate mean”? I got a lot of complements on the color, a few people didn’t believe that Shadow Gray was a factory color… “I’ve only seen black, red, white, green and a few blues”. I got lucky when I found this one.
  15. Forgot to mention… ran into a now-retired coworker at the show who I haven’t seen in a few years. Turns out he has a ‘72 Monte (he didn’t bring it as he kinda stumbled upon the show passing by) that be picked up about 5 years ago… I had no idea he was a car guy, let alone a First Gen guy. He never heard of the FGMCC, so I told him all about it and provided him a link to the site. Hopefully he jumps on board in the near future.
  16. I’d have to say you’re correct on both points 😂 And once again, I’m the only first gen in attendance.
  17. Weather is absolutely perfect and I’m about to grab some brisket off the food truck. Here’s some more pictures, hopefully I don’t send duplicates on accident…
  18. Took a break from walking the lot and taking photos to enjoy a beer and send some pictures to my FGMCC compadres. Enjoy !!…. * PS - Star of the Show appears last 😉
  19. Question: does the “Non-CA” designation mean for cars that won’t be initially REGISTERED in California? (Like some cars had to have the Cali-mandated smog pumps). Because my girl was Van Nuys built but delivered to the dude who special ordered her in Chandler, Arizona.
  20. I had to run back out to the garage reading this thread. I knew my car had a Rochester, but after looking at the protect-o-plate I noticed it had a “C” for carb type. And upon checking “Chevrolet by the numbers”, I learned that Carter built Rochester four barrel carbs. Observe…
  21. My build sheet reflects the U46 option, but my girl has ZERO functioning auxiliary lamps. How rare is this option and how hard is it to find/fix/reproduce?
  22. I see someone subscribes to the ol’ “upside-down-air-cleaner-lid” move. I remember doing that on my ‘67 Camaro and the Box Chevy Caprices I drove when I started my “professional” career 🤣😂. I’ll never forget the “whooooosh” sound.
  23. Very cool story. A prodigal son returns!
  24. Very nice! Looks like the weather was perfect.
