  1. Somewhere along the line this section was repaired with metal, but they just cut a hole in the flat and screwed the marker kight on. Obviously the trim didn'tfit very well. This section is solid, aside from the F'd up hole. If I cant find a suitable piece, I'll end up getting a 'skin' and using the section I need.
  2. Does anyone have a damaged right rear quarter? I could use the lower section from the wheel well back, or at a minimum the recessed marker light section.
  3. Starting to strip the car for paint. How does the 'Monte Carlo' script emblem come off of the sail panel? I cant see or feel any push/speed nuts on the studs. Is it just a press fit through the vinyl top and panel?
  4. I've used Novus plastic polish for years on my motorcycle face shields and windscreens, works great! https://www.amazon.com/NOVUS-PK1-2-Plastic-Scratch-Remover-Bottles/dp/B002UD0GIG/ref=asc_df_B002UD0GIG/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312168126179&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11997765096847143644&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012392&hvtargid=pla-406644991415&psc=1
  5. Thanks Rob. 👍 I have to gut the interior for the roof repair. I think I'll pull the screws from the dash cap and take a look for it, maybe disconnect it my self, and leave it loose so they can slide it off if needed.
  6. My car is going in for vinyl top rust repair and paint soon. They are going to pull the windshield and rear window. Should I unplug the antenna coax from the radio, or is there another connection at the windshield itself?
  7. If/when you decide to tackle this yourself, take pics with your phone, and write a description of each step on paper. The pics will also help when you ask a more specific question here. There are Youtube videos that can help you as well, note that the same era Chevelle's are similar if not identical electrically and mechanically.
  8. This is the link: https://www.ebay.com/str/hitechclassics?_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2563
  9. I agree, the price difference of the felts isn't as drastic as the door seals, they were my main question as to the quality vs the function.
  10. Any comments on the function vs. quality of the 2 levels of door weatherstripping and windowfelts offered by The Parts Place. https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/part/1972/monte-carlo/weatherstripping-rubber-bumpers/door-weatherstripping1 https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/part/1972/monte-carlo/weatherstripping-rubber-bumpers/windowfelt-kit1
  11. Both, I haven't taken anything apart yet, trying to do the research first.
  12. What is the part # for these trim clips? Are they riveted on? Source? TIA!
  13. Thanks guys, exactly what I was looking for, right color too! 👍
  14. Visit the vinyl wrap shop and put a strip on it so you can eyeball it. Easy to remove if you don't like it, or get tired of it.
  15. My car is scheduled for the body shop n mid March for rear window rust repair. As much as I like the look of the vinyl top, I'm considering painting the roof with a tan to match the top and reusing the trim. Paint is code 65, Orange Flame.
  16. I really dislike skinny steering wheels! Amazon to the rescue with a padded cover (https://www.amazon.com/Custom-Accessories-38451P-Memory-Steering/dp/B007LIA8JM/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3TGL710DUQ21M&keywords=Custom%2BAccessories%2B38451P%2BBlack%2BMemory%2BFoam%2BSoft%2BGrip%2BSteering%2BWheel%2BCover&qid=1674679092&sprefix=custom%2Baccessories%2B38451p%2Bblack%2Bmemory%2Bfoam%2Bsoft%2Bgrip%2Bsteering%2Bwheel%2Bcover%2Caps%2C1194&sr=8-1&th=1) and a leather wrap(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0989MBC2W/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&aaxitk=fdbb24ce1462d38ce6224981b3afc7cc&content-id=amzn1.sym.7e9cd8c2-888c-46c4-82d2-714b2b703021%3Aamzn1.sym.7e9cd8c2-888c-46c4-82d2-714b2b703021&hsa_cr_id=5183828280101&pd_rd_plhdr=t&pd_rd_r=c75639f8-d963-47bc-9a4d-8652e3719773&pd_rd_w=H9D4W&pd_rd_wg=d7ZRe&qid=1674679282&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_lsi4d_asin_0_img&sr=1-1-9e67e56a-6f64-441f-a281-df67fc737124&th=1 Took about 2 1/2 hours, much easier with the wheel off the car, BTDT!
  17. Still overthinking this swap! I used a calculator (https://purperformance.com/p-29669-rpm-calculator.html) to figure RPM at different speeds. With my 27" tires OD at 70 would drop from 2400 to 1600 rpm. OD at 60 would drop from 2040 to 1365 rpm. OD at 55 would drop from 1870 to 1250 rpm. OD at 50 would drop from 1700 to 1140 rpm. Would the 1250 or even 1365 rpm be too much lugging, use more gas and potentially harm the engine?
  18. My '37 Pontiac had a cable running through the door into the engine compartment. I never locked my Valiant convertible either. The kit I'm looking at has 2 buttons that can be hidden for access if the fob battery goes bad. Never had that issue on the '37.
  19. With the shaved doors & solenoids, opening a door is in-accessable, no need for locking mechanism. Besides, with the hardtop window configuration I could pop the lock in 10 seconds! Or 20 if I were fishing for the interior handle. The subtle exterior mod will tie in with what I'm doing interior-wise. Power buckets with integral 3 point harness from a 2021 Chrysler 200 convertible, recovered in the stock Saddle Tan with a darker suede insert. Rear seat inserted to match. B&M Mega shifter with a custon built console.
