I have a set that I did not use on my Monte Carlo and got with Leo on the metal ones.I believe these were from a parts place in Illinois.Like the Monte by the way,18 huh,I'd Die for a monte at 18,took me another 23yrs to get mine!

    HEI

Jim, Are you interested in selling 1? I have one from eons ago I set up for mine.Fixed advance, this motor loves 40 degrees at 3000rpm. Just wanting to upgrade now.
  3. The driver's side of mine was through with rust. The one I got from Leo fit perfect! Bodyman was happy with the fit and finish.Leo's website sometimes does not come up right with me too.I think he's still working on it.You can always call and talk to him about them.
  4. I've went with the DP40,DP90 epoxy primer and chassis paint(black) .very durable stuff.Been on the car since 2005 and still looks as I just put it on.No chips when jacking up and if it did easy touch up with black enamel spray bomb.I sand blasted the frame & parts before spraying it on.I also used it on my tube running boards on my Ford Ranger. They are a little worse off because I don't wash or take to much care of the truck(ford)and since it was new in 2000,sprayed those also in 2005,now rusting out from the inside, pad tabs in top do not help matters.Anyway they are still shiny if cleaned up.I think the gallon was $100.00 for each but that was back in '05.
  5. I started out with castrol 20-50, now I'm running Brad Penn 20-50 since last year at the Watkins Glen Vintage race.it has all the "good" stuff in it.It's the "Green" oil, yeah it is green in color.anything up there with a flat tappet design had a sticker on it.It's had the stuff in it since and I don't plan on switching.running a sbc with a little more than .510 lift with 292 duration.Always been a castrol fan but since they stopped with the zinc content I had to find something else to fill the void.
  6. Installed sound deadener in the back of the Monte Sunday, man that is a job in itself! I started at 8:00am and finally put the rear seat back in at 5:00pm,no lunch break either!I'm just putting it down from the back of the front seats to the package tray.Try to keep "the noise down"... I kinda like it!
  7. Thanks for sharing,I'll be doing some of this, this week on a Pontiac Grand Am.
  8. Madmonte,I just put on a(rear) reproduction from Leo's in( parts sources)section.I had a reproduction on the front of mine for 4yrs, no problems. the quality of both great, same thickness(+,- .003), chrome nice, no adjustments for bolting brackets back on to the new ones.Leo's carries both front and rear, give him a shout!! Rob has seen my front bumper last year at the meet in Carlisle,(his '70 parked next to my '72).

  15. Hi,355 cubes, 3row copper radiator, 180 thermostat. Was 2row radiator 192 thermostat.when hot it was 210-220 now its 180 all the time.it did climb to 190 in the traffic in Carlisle but was not going any higher.mix is 50/50.with the added coolent I think its doing the trick.I put the 180 in it with the 2row and it was running 195-200 mostly.it has a 18 1/4 " 7 blade flex(wide blade fan) on it with the factory shroud.sending unit in the cylinder head, drivers side, yes next to the header.I think it gives you better indication of coolant temp in engine.
  16. Hi Again, Well the excitement started all over again!Recieved my "award" in the mail from Jim Bozar and well, I had to display it in the back seat of the Monte. It will be with the car at every show I will go to this year, along with the photo album of the restoration.I've NEVER won anything with the car before the GM Nationals. Many shows and alot of nice comments on it.Humbled isn't even close. To be in such a great group of Monte's at this show, along with the people in our group, just amazing. Thanks to all once again!! WOO WHOO!! Now to get some pics on this forum....Well, hmmmm....
  17. YOU Mean, I WON!!, WHOO HOO!! I WON!! I didn't even think I'd place with the amount of quality cars that were there.OH,MAN I WON!! This is just too GREAT!! A 3rd place, BUT I WON!! It was a great show and I want to thank all the FGMCC members I met for the very first time.My car wasn't ready for the Ohio meet, (on stands in the garage Transmission out of it)and last minute items to fix along with it.I brought a toolbox just in case something went wrong. It was the longest ride in it yet.No problems there or on the way back,so it was a very good outing with it and I WON!! 3rd Place!Even though it was a tie I still feel GREAT about it!! Dave Schenk,How's it feel to win at Carlisle? This was the first big meet I'd ever been in with mine.ALL the Monte's were "top notch" in my book. Can you see me,jumping up, off the ground, fist in the air, and going, WHOO HOO!! YEAH!! Thanks Again, to all members, non-members, and everyone else I met at the GM Nationals!!
  18. First and Last name: James Stead The year and color of your Monte: 1972 Nassau Blue The day you will arive : Friday (early afternoon) Number of people in your party: 2 pre-registered and gave club reference,..no,no,no,FGMCC! shake-down cruising as we speak
  19. Hi, Any chance a blue '72 could be done? A blown one, with rally's would be the one I need.
  20. Hi,Just wanted to say, that's pretty nice project to start with.Is it going to be Red when It's done? My trunk was a little worse off than yours. Just keep plugging away at it and you'll see the differences in the pictures.I didn't take very many pictures of mine in the destruction zone,More in the assembly mode.I think the '71 looks the best with the front grlle and painted Red.Please tell me you are keeping the top, that's what makes the car in my book.Looks pretty clean to me!No rust on the rear fenderwells, that's good!
  21. Man,I hate when that happens!
  22. Hi, I'm putting up the Monte for the winter since they have salted my road(why?).Yes,we did have some bad weather here but not that bad to salt the road!!.So I'd like to know what to do so I don't have problems in the Spring.Fuel tank is full, battery tender is hooked up,tires are off floor on 2"x12" wood pads.Anything else? I don't know if I should put fuel additive in or just start it up once in awhile.Any help would be greatly appreciated. As for list of things to do this winter;New alumiunm radiator, new edelbrock fuel pump and braided line to carb.& replace rear bumper with new(KLASSIK'S) or replated from tri-city plating.
  23. Hi Capri,I have a set of the lower trim mouldings with the correct color(white)454 emblems. I bought these on ebay thinking I might put these on mine to fake some people out.Nah, Mine is a '72 and didn't have these on it.If you do need them let me know or else they are going on the garage wall.I'll dig them out to see how good they are.
  24. Hi to who replied; Well I hate to say this, but it was my fault.I had the vacuum lines switched on the reserve tank.I started it up and pulled the vacuum line off the brake booster,no vacuum. Then pulled the line running from the intake to reserve tank, lots of vacuum. switched lines, now I have power brakes. Thanks Again for the advice.Getting ready to take it back from the body shop where its been for over 3 yrs.Yeah, he's glad its going home. But now he wants me to help him with a 1967 camaro(stock rebuild). One hand washes the other I guess.Again, Thanks to all of ya!!
  25. Hi, Thanks everyone for the input.I'm going over to the shop this week and try some things.I'm thinking it's the booster.I don't think the pedal goes down after starting it up.Just feels like manual brakes to me.I'll let you know what I find out. But thanks again for the advice.
